Join us Thursday for a special Tribute and Celebration of Michael Siever, a special friend to many and a champion of our queer community who dedicated his life and career to building programs and services for gay, bi, and trans men who have sex with men and others at risk for HIV. His deep expertise, and care, in crafting these services lives on today through two programs at SFAF he co-founded more than 20 years ago: The Stonewall Project, which provides substance use treatment and counseling, and Magnet, our sexual health clinic at Strut. Michael’s legacy lives on, and we are so grateful for his contributions to our community. He was a special friend to both me and my partner Ronald. Michael loved to dance and was also part of our family at Go BANG! at the Stud for many years. He believed in the healing power of dancing and gave us much energy and inspiration on the dancefloor. One of the most memorable and fun times that Ron and I had was going to Burning Man with Michael and his son Ethan tenting at Comfort & Joy. I'll be playing some of Michael's favorite songs at the Tribute. We'll celebrate his life with friends! Thursday at The Stud 1123 Folsom St 6pm - 9pm

It was great to see Jason Kendig and Carlos Souffrant at Monarch for AYLI, and Jeremy Bispo presents "Detroit Made." A night devoted to their hometown, they both delivered the vibe excellently! It was great to experience the premier screening of Pillion at the Castro Theatre. Director and writer Harry Lighton and actor Harry Mellon were there to speak and answer questions. It was excellently moderated by Race Bannon. Ron and I, with our friend Jim Piechota, enjoyed this thought provoking film exploring the BDSM relationship of the two main characters. One of the characters incorporated his top role into his everyday life, whereas the bottom character surrendered to what the top wanted, but at a certain point he wanted to break free from an arrangement where he had no control. The film made me think about power dynamics that exist in all relationships. The acting by Alexander Skarsgard and Harry Melling was excellent, as was the screenplay.
