"Love Through Agriculture" is a global learning program that includes pre-departure training, a week-long workshop at Plenitud, an agro-ecological farm and education center in Puerto Rico, and post-return reflection. The program addresses climate change resiliency by focusing on water, housing, and energy infrastructure in Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria. Students work with local leaders on resource sovereignty projects, integrating mindfulness practices to deepen their connection with self, community, and the earth. The 2-credit workshop follows a 4-credit on-campus course and involves community-based global learning and partnership building. Apply at https://bit.ly/pr-ica-2024

Not Our Rice: Vibrations in Africana Foodways, Ecosystems, and Cultural Production Features Africana culinary traditions and the embodied transmission of Africana knowledge systems as they cohere in the life cycles of Africana foodways, spirituality, resistance, and healing arts. We will be joined by the incredible artists Cybille St. Aude-Tate and Omar Tate from @honeysuckle_provisions ; local growers specializing in the cultivation of plants from the African world; a discussion from Africana Studies scholar and memory keeper Prof. @iyelliichile on Africana ways of knowing, being, and lifeways of our sacred peoples; and artist and choreographer @sanchelbrown , will perform and highlight the traditional African dance Temate, that expresses the life cycle of producing and cultivating rice. Come join us at the Constantine N. Papadakis Integrated Sciences Building (PISB) on Chestnut Street in Philadelphia, PA, USA. This in-person event promises to be a vibrant and enriching experience for all attendees. Don't miss out!

One of our longstanding partners, @puentesdesalud — a community arts and healthcare organization is South Philadelphia — is seeking volunteers to help staff a series of workshops and seminars taking place over eight Saturdays this summer, starting July 1st, as part of their #proyectograndote, a multi-year project celebrating indigenous and autochthonous arts and culture in the Americas. We are looking for @drexeluniv students, staff, faculty, and alumni to attend an orientation meeting in early June. A proficiency in Spanish is preferred for this opportunity, but not required. If interested, please complete the brief survey linked here and in the bio. https://forms.gle/gCcgMpxnA7eipeR57 Contact Prof. Steve Vásquez Dolph at [email protected] for more information.
