It was a beautiful sunset on the way to Bolinas. The photo and video with the purple hues are looking south towards San Francisco and the photos with the reddish orange hues are looking north towards Marin County.

It was almost sunset when @stevec4747 and I finally exited the ramp to Hwy 93 - Icefields Parkway from Banff to Jasper, one year after the devastating forest fires ravaged through many of our beloved stops on this route. Glad to report that it was and continues to be one of the most beautiful drives in the world. Nature’s resilient beauty remains undiminished, and hope you enjoy this short reel and encourages you to make those plans to drive up here soon! As for me, I will never grow tired making this trip. A piece of my ❤️ will always be in Alberta and I so very much love coming to this special corner that feels like me just coming home every time. Pictures from an #orcasisland #whalewatching tour with @outerislandx from July 11th. We observed a pod of #orcas hunting marine mammals with Captain Elliot and Naturalist Sheila for over an hour out of our 3.5 hour tour before returning to @the_orcas_hotel for the night. What a great trip!

Hands down the best meal of our entire 5-day trip. THIS phenomenal Penn Cove mussels dish served as part of a 5-course Chef’s Tasting menu at @the_oystercatcher in Whidbey Island. Wow. I could not get enough of the sweet juicy tangy smokiness of this masterpiece - fresh mussels in a complex broth of lemongrass, coconut milk, lime, turmeric, paprika, onions and red peppers with a punch of sublime heat. Could have eaten this alone for days. Then the deceptively simple Nicoise salad with seasme-crusted raw ahi tuna (yay for Steve), greens coated in anchovy-mustard vinaigrette dressing, green olives, peas and blue cornflower petals (LOVE). Oy! Perfection. Could have stopped there, but why? The Chef and kitchen crew were clearly on a roll that night - so onto our lovely English peas with bacon and ham pasta topped with charred tomatoes; and a surf and turf entree with perfectly cooked crispy salmon and cold crab meat, corn cakes and morel mushrooms. Just because they could. And scrumptious beignet dessert with raspberry sauce and green tea ice cream (did I mention we had a raspberry sorbet as palette cleanser in between?) . The fiery sunset was a bonus we didnt ask for, but the universe gave it anyway. So there. Will be hard to forget this perfect meal. EVER. Why is the Oystercatcher a local favorite? You tell me. I’ve got no clue why it isnt a national icon by now. This down to earth, gastronomically scintillating dinner was not only served with hearty portions, but surely surpassed other James Beard nominated restaurants IMHO.
