Manic Street Preachers + The Joy Formidable at The Royal Albert Hall tonight for Teenage Cancer Trust. My 20th time seeing Manics and almost 30 years to the date I saw them for the first time - and their first time as a trio - at Radio 1’s Sound City Leeds, April 1996. Granted, I’ve since migrated from the mosh pit to a comfy aisle seat, but still showing up!

Celebrations backstage following the triumphant world premiere of the new musical, “Sea Witches”; packed with pop theatre bangers, an incredible cast, and @michellevisage showing - once again - that she was born for the stage. That was really something special.

Travel more is my 2026 goal; starting as I mean to go on with a sneaky lil trip to Gran Canaria. Happy new year!

2025…made quite a few shows this year with my company, Mostest. In addition to our first full year of “Love Songs with Michael Ball”, our fourth year of “Michelle Visage’s Fabulous Friday”, and another “Christmas with Jane McDonald”, I also got to work with Cerys Matthews, Angela Griffin, DJ Spoony, Richie Anderson and James King for the first time. Plus, I produced a handful of specials on artists that I adore. File all of this under “Dream Job”.
I’ll be starting ‘26 the same way I started ‘25: counting in Big Ben at midnight with Michelle Visage producing her Fabulous New Year’s party, live tonight 10pm on BBC Radio 2.
Big honorable mentions to my partners in crime Billy Draper and Michael Curling, plus all of the amazing pluggers, PRs, studio managers etc. who go out of their way to help us all year round, not forgetting Radio 2 itself (sidebar: shout out the socials team) for giving me the opportunities.
That’s all, folks! Happy New Year!
