For P5,800 per person, is this 10-course tasting menu worth it?
My honest take: YES. Now on its third year, Michelin-selected Aurora feels very clear about its identity. The menu is inspired by our country’s abundant produce and the local farmers, fishermen, and producers from regions we may sometimes overlook.
Seasonal and sustainably sourced, the menu is also heavily seafood-forward. “We are an island nation after all,” Chef Mark shared during dinner. “Why not make use of what we already have?”
With 10 courses, it’s easy to get “umay” sometimes, especially when tasting menus start having similar flavor profiles. But here, my palate kept resetting. There was no course fatigue; just a sense of curiosity and looking forward to what Chef Mark Sanchez and Sous Chef Danielle Lim had in store next. 😋
It was also fun learning about the little surprises and stories behind each dish, like hoja santa chimichurri made with a sarsaparilla leaf from Bacolod that tastes almost root beer-like, a fermented coffee tea steeped for 16 days using local beans, and even the fact that we actually have our own truffles in the Cordillera region!
The mains of iberico pork and Angus short rib almost stole the show for me, but what I appreciated most throughout the dinner was how each course allowed one ingredient to really show its own personality, while everything else played their stellar roles as supporting cast members.
Most of all, the atmosphere at @_restaurantaurora never felt stuffy or intimidating. It was easy to just enjoy the food, appreciate the technique, and learn more about the stories behind each dish. 🇵🇭

Tried this Polvoron Matcha Latte (P250) from the new MERU x YKW collab, and I liked how the sweetness comes from the polvoron foam (torched and slightly nutty) on top 🍵
It’s more fusion-style, but still keeps a balanced matcha profile (lol who is she, I don’t even drink matcha regularly haha)
