Twenty years ago, when Kansas City musician Billy Brimblecom Jr. was diagnosed with cancer, he went through 13 rounds of chemotherapy and ultimately lost a leg. One of his oldest friends, former "SNL" and "Ted Lasso" star Jason Sudeikis, rallied to his cause, helping raise funds to pay for a prosthetic leg.
Since then, Sudeikis, Brimblecom and friends have held an annual fundraiser, called Thundergong, that has helped more than 2,000 amputees all over the country pay for prosthetics through the Steps of Faith Foundation.
Want to know how Steps works?
Steps of Faith helps uninsured and under-insured amputees get the prosthetic limbs they desperately need to restore their livelihood.
Here’s our process:
1. Potential candidate completes application and gets approved.
2. Local clinic is identified, and the client sets up an appointment.
3. Prosthetist evaluates the client and sends us a list of parts to build the prosthetic limb.
4. We order the needed parts directly from the distributor and send them to the clinic.
5. Prosthetist donates time and labor and assembles the prosthesis.
6. Client receives limb and learns to be independent and mobile again.
Your generous donations let us move quickly, secure prosthetics at the lowest cost, connect amputees with prosthetists who donate their time, and help as many amputees in need as we can.

Limb loss affects far more than physical mobility. The emotional impact, including grief, anxiety, depression, and rebuilding confidence, is just as important as prosthetic care and physical rehabilitation. Supporting mental health is a vital part of the healing journey for amputees and their overall well-being. #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth

Born with a congenital absence of the fibula and differences in his leg, Alex underwent an amputation at age six. He has spent his life adapting and finding balance “living in a two-legged world” with a positive, determined outlook.
After years of wear and tear, his outdated prosthetic was causing pain and limiting his ability to work and live fully. With help from Steps of Faith and his prosthetist Andy Lopez, CPO at Hanger Clinic, Alex received a new leg, restoring comfort, mobility, and a renewed sense of balance in his everyday life.
