Very hard not to race straight home and draw after seeing this potent Phillip Guston show at @hauserwirth (only saw 3 shows within two blocks and all were amazing: + Lisa Yuskavage (her color alone is worth the trip) and Gerhard Richter at @davidzwirner . But the Guston show in particular really pounded me in the chest. They’re also playing his impossible to find film “Phillip Guston: A Life Lived,” which has inspired me for the last 27 years or so)

Finally finishing Mini commissions. This my 10th layer of red for this🍓- seeds are next once this is dry. Then probably value modeling around some edges?
Those mini commissions have been really fun - all drawn and watercolor is mostly started with some totally finished. There’s still an exceptionally crazy one about “color rectums” I’m still figuring out how to draw. Other than that I’ll finish these and send them out to people next week. I’m spending way more time on them than I have in the past but I love the way these are turning out so it’s worth it. I hope people don’t mind waiting a bit longer.
