Our first few days in Puglia have been over the top! One of the last regions of Italy we’ve not yet explored and so far has exceeded our expectations.
Started with two days at Borgo Egnazia (learned upon arrival it’s where Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel got married!!!). Absolutely spectacular. A memorable and lovely boat ride through the caves of Polignano a Mare (where they do the cliff diving).. then we moved to the Itria Valley and an incredible opportunity to stay in a Trulli house, visit Alberobello and Ostuni. A detour to a lovely local winery we had already fallen in love with (sent ahem… a case or two home) where the dog joined us for a tasting 😳.. and today arrived in Lecce. On to the next adventure… ❤️🇮🇹 #likehome
File this under “things that just make you smile”. Mom has been gone a little bit more than 90 days and I’ve just begun gathering the bravery to address her house. Oof, it’s a lot to endure emotionally.
This weekend I decided to begin by boxing up her extra towels to donate tp the Austin Humane Society. While going through the linen closet I came across this lovely wool blanket that has been on beds in mom‘s house for as long as I can remember. I can’t actually remember a home where she didn’t have these blankets. I went to pull the blanket off the shelf and a magazine fell off… it was actually not a magazine, but an L.L. Bean catalog opened to the page featuring these same blankets! I had to stop and laugh because I realized it was mom‘s way of being sure that I knew that this was a quality blanket and it was important to her that I treated it as such, and not just give it away. Got it Mom. Heard.
Meanwhile, this very same woman… I was going through her dresser drawers and came across a plastic baggie with a cheese container (like a box of brie. I was honestly terrified it was going to actually contain cheese. When I opened it, It was a string of beautiful, perfect pearls! Who does that?
Thus begins the journey of unraveling my mom‘s possessions and listening to all of her messages. It’s going to be an interesting ride. ❤️
Feeling so lucky and so loved. Lots of Mom tears and great conversations and catching up with all our dear friends in Chicago. What a memorable, wonderful and surprisingly emotional night. Now… out early and bundled to offset some of last night’s damage. 🤣 #lifelongfrends #chicago
Cabo San Lucas you’re on fire! Fab visit with Corcoran Baja and the inspiring Blake and Michelle Harrington, who are building something thoughtful, meaningful and truly different, in this incredible corner of the world. Can’t walk 5 feet in Los Cabos without Blake running into someone!! 🤦♀️ #themayor. Grateful to be able to combine a bit of personal and a bit of work.. including a fun forum retreat with jet skis, sailing, padel, poolside foot massages, bike riding, long beach walks, a tour of the soon to open Aman residences, and lots of great food. My fav part was my first full day of golf. Turns out.. it’s a blast!! New hobby?? We shall see. @caboloco@corcorancabo@fsloscabos
Some moments just make you stop and take it in. This is one of them.

An amazing and much needed week in Costa Rica. A few days at a thermal bath in the jungle, followed by a YPO couples chapter trip to the beach. Hanging chairs, coffee classes, sunset hikes, zip lining, morning monkey calls, small planes, hatching turtles, sunrise beach walks, Centenarians, poolside laughs, dragonfruit bowls, ATVs, forum family, new connections. Soul healing. ❤️ #puravida #costarica #ypogold #austinypo @rioperdido@silvestrenosara
Very strange to miss Inman last week.. but only for an excellent reason. Just wrapping a special few days at the iconic Biltmore in Scottsdale celebrating our Presidents Club franchise sales awards winners across 7 of our CIH brands. So proud of all our top producers (in particular to our top winner, the incomparable Ray Kirmeyer) and kudos to our events team for such a thoughtful and well executed experience. Special surprise was getting a VIP experience at hole 9 at the Waste Management Phoenix Open. We ventured over to hole 16 to check out the madness.. and quickly scurried back to our less frenetic tent! 😳 Special thanks too, to @lizgehringer for always making everyone feel so seen. ❤️ Truly a talented and special human who I somehow never got a pic with!!? XO @arizonabiltmore@thecorcorangroup

We lost my mom last week. It’s surreal to even write those words. I’m heartbroken.
A traditional obituary didn’t feel right, but IG doesn’t like the length of what I wrote.. so sharing a few thoughts here and more on FB.
Mom was raised in the 1950’s in Virginia wearing white gloves, poodle skirts and girdles. It was a very different time.
She loved fiercely. She loved family, well behaved dogs (and people), good design, dear friends, collecting jewelry, bargain hunting, movies (and popcorn), NPR, pedicures, theatre, Maine, Tuscany, cooking/entertaining, politics, ice cream, classical music, coffee, wrapping gifts, eating out (especially seafood, Chinese, sushi), and for 20 years, nothing came between her and a well done veggie egg white omelet, twice a week at Country Kitchen with Deanna.
She was full of lessons, some intentional, and some I have learned through her weaknesses, and what not to do. I am grateful for them all:
- Friends are the family you choose. Thanksgiving isn’t Thanksgiving, without friends at the table.
- Humility and kindness are attractive, but if a man is funny… you can get past almost anything.
- It’s OK to ask for, and except, help.
- Travel makes you a better and more interesting human.
- Celebrate imperfection. Nobody is perfect.
- You can do hard things. Just put your head down and keep going.
- Rely on yourself first. Everything can change in an instant.
- Look for the helpers.
- Readers are special. Empathy comes from seeing the world through other people’s eyes.
- It’s not selfish to take care of yourself.
- $1 can be stretched to $3 with a little creativity.
- Art makes the world better.
- Feeding other people feeds the soul.
- Containers can be used and reused in more ways than you can imagine.
- Green beans are traditional.
- Independence and pride are good, but don’t let them be a moat.
I appreciate hearing from so many others that loved her too. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.
The holidays are better at home. Looking forward to a few days of rest, relaxation, family, laughing, loving, cooking, movies, books.. and a few long walks to even it all out. Love and light to you and your family, this holiday season. No better time to #behome.
