“Wolves,” a beautiful Stephanie Davis song, has been stuck in my mind all month. I first heard it as a teenager, but it hits harder these heartsore days.
Today is official release day for my new album, HUNCH.
Musical thanks have to begin with my friend and producer on this new album with @goffmoore His time and talents are all over this record and it has been a pleasure getting to work with him on a full album. Goff’s as kind and genuine of a person as he is a wonderful musician and that comes through in everything he touches. His cabin studio on the Cumberland
(Wasioto) River in Madison, TN oozes vibe and it was easy to be open and creative in that space. The last few years have brought about big changes for many of us who write songs and travel around singing them. Still, the process of making an album is one of my favorite things in the world and this record was long overdue.
Nashville has an embarrassment of riches when it comes to musicians. I wrote all of these songs alone, but I recorded them with my friends. @mollyjewell , @matthewcrouse , @mercerwoodworking , Dave Jacques, @niehauspaul63 , and Bryan Owings all helped bring these songs to life with their talents. I have known all of these musicians for a long time, going back over twenty years, in some cases. None of us songwriters get to record as often as we would like to, so we choose these players carefully when we do.
Lastly, to those of you who donated and contributed early to the recording, I cannot thank you enough. As always, it took longer than I planned, but I hope it was worth the wait. Like everything I create, I was just following a hunch that it would work out.
