Meet Mabel Loomis Todd. Amherst's most scandalous woman. When Emily Dickinson dies, nearly two thousand poems are found hidden in a bureau drawer. Mabel β€” young, bold, ambitious β€” is the one woman audacious enough to publish them. But to do it, she must defy the man she loves, outmaneuver her mortal enemy, and force a male literary establishment to recognize a genius it was not ready for. She gave Emily Dickinson to the world. And changed American literature forever. π™π™π™š π™‡π™žπ™œπ™π™© 𝙀𝙛 π™ƒπ™šπ™§ π™Šπ™¬π™£ π™π™žπ™§π™š. My debut novel, after forty years in the professional theatre. Now with my agent at Folio Literary Management. More soon.

Today marks our 35-year wedding anniversary. I considered myself lucky then, and loved Jacqueline completely, already certain I had found my soul mate. Yet, I cherish her, respect her, and am utterly devoted to her even more now, thirty-five years after we started our journey together. Our partnership deepens with time. #love #weddinganniversary #anniversary @danielsachsart @anyechen @williamsachs929

Today, more than 90 organizations are mobilizing nationwide in response to the Supreme Court ruling that weakened the Voting Rights Act. The day of action β€” All Roads Lead to the South β€” names its urgency as "rooted in the legacy of Freedom Summer." This season, Antaeus Theatre Company uses art for advocacy. MISS JULIE: FREEDOM SUMMER starts February 21, 2027. @antaeustheatre #freedomsummer #votingrightsact #vote #votingrights @officialgreggdaniel

One hundred forty years ago today, Emily Dickinson died in Amherst. She was fifty-five. Her stone in West Cemetery reads: Called Back. Two words β€” the entire contents of the last letter she sent her cousins, as her final illness took hold. 𝘊𝘒𝘭𝘭𝘦π˜₯ π˜‰π˜’π˜€π˜¬ was also a novel. An 1883 mystery by Hugh Conway. The woman who gave Emily that book was Mabel Loomis Todd β€” the same woman who, after Emily's death, would gather nearly eighteen hundred unpublished poems and introduce them to the world. I came to this grave in 2022, while writing the novel that became π™π™π™š π™‡π™žπ™œπ™π™© 𝙀𝙛 π™ƒπ™šπ™§ π™Šπ™¬π™£ π™π™žπ™§π™š. Ever since I was a boy, I've been called back to Emily, again and again. #emilydickinson #emilydickinson140 #poetry #literaryhistory #amherst #histfic #bookstagram

Daniel Kraus has won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction for π˜Όπ™£π™œπ™šπ™‘ π˜Ώπ™€π™¬π™£. A masterwork that unspools like a fever dream β€” one unceasing, writhing sentence, hyper-detailed, relentless. Kraus pushes further and further into the war, and what war becomes, the last chapters lifting into a phantasmagorical realm that held me both spellbound and confounded. He really goes for it. I applaud him. Congratulations, @kraus_author . Well earned. #pulitzerprize #angeldown #danielkraus #bookstagram #literaryfiction

A classical theatre company with its finger on the pulse of the nation, in real time. π™ˆπ™žπ™¨π™¨ 𝙅π™ͺπ™‘π™žπ™š: π™π™§π™šπ™šπ™™π™€π™’ π™Žπ™ͺπ™’π™’π™šπ™§ is set in the South in the very moment the Voting Rights Act was being forged. Sixty years later, the fight isn't history. It's the headline. The past is right now. @antaeustheatre

Jacqueline and I saw Yuja Wang with the Mahler Chamber Orchestra last night at The Soraya. A Chopin piano concerto. A Prokofiev symphony. Wang’s fierce prowessβ€”her power, her command, those lightning-fast runsβ€”was electrifying. And then, within the Chopin: a sudden stillness, a gentle, searching sensitivity, such serene artistry. Unbearably beautiful. Seventeen hundred of us sat in the sold-out hall, hushed and transfixed. You could hear a pin drop. A magical evening that lingers. If you have the chance to experience her live, don’t miss it. @yujawang.official @thesorayastage #piano #yujawang @mahlerchamberorchestra
