The newest restaurant in town is
@buenprovecholb and it’s a fantastic addition to the Downtown Promenade. Think Modern Mexican-American food paired with Puerto Rican inspired drinks, in a gorgeous environment.
The breadth of food options are impressive: scallop aguachiles, quesoburger, tempura fish tacos, smoked beef cheek burritos, hot honey wings, branzino zarandeado, wood-fired tomahawk, and much more.
I personally got to try the papas machas, Brussels sprouts esquites, chicken flautas, chips and dips, guacamole, mushroom huarache, yellowfin tuna tostadas, carne asada bowl, carne asada a la leña, lamb rack birria, and arroz con leche.
The carne asada a la leña was fantastic. Wood-fire marinated flank steak served with loaded pinto beans, mama’s rice, various salsa including salsa macha, and tortillas.
Speaking of carne asada—I loved the bowl too which was chock full of beans, rice, cumin lime corn, shishito and carrot escabeche, tomatillo jam, and salsa negra.
Across the board, I loved this meal. And the drinks were awesome too, I was partial to the 50/50 which was a sweet citrusy cocktail topped with a vanilla foam. And of course the margaritas were on point.
All in all, it’s a huge gain for the Long Beach food scene. Be sure to check them out now!
