So here he is, @stephen.ox and I @_cherry_moon ! Getting to know one another behind the camera, super out of my comfort zone!
He came to me for the pitch about capturing the romance of what we do here at Cherry Moon, which of course, is cooking with fire and working with wild fermentation. What he created wasn’t quite what I expected, it was far more personal and up close than I was ready for. Bear with me guys as I come out of my comfort zone on a whole new level this year!
Building Appolonia 2.0 off-grid AKA another Alan Scott wood-fired oven, planting a bit of magic in the soil, and sharing it all through a sourdough Airbnb experience honouring what we’re all about!
The film showcased how I fell into cooking in the first place at 16 years old after hitting rock bottom in my early teens in New Zealand, and the journey to rebuild myself in some of Sydney’s best kitchens. From there came finding my way back to health by a contrasting deep dive into reconnecting with my roots and nature through living close to the land in the Blue Mountains, a stint in the Northern Territory, and back home in NZ. It was there I found pieces of myself again, through land, community, and cultural roots. All of which were the building blocks that led to creating @cherrymoongeneralstore - a path of many highs and lows, and endless lessons along the way.
Captured by the incredible @stephen.ox , a local photographer and filmmaker whose work carries a grounded, intuitive connection to the world around him. A small glimpse of something we’ve been working on behind the scenes.
The alchemy of wild fermentation and flame, such a romantic way of cooking. A truly special collaboration beautifully capturing our lil pocket of magic here at @cherrymoongeneralstore ✨🔥
