Times are changing. But if there’s any advice I can offer to those who’ve reached out in recent weeks, it’s this: work hard, stay curious, and remain adaptable as the industry evolves. No one is entitled to success — but effort, integrity, and consistency still matter deeply. Journalism is demanding — physically, mentally, and emotionally. It asks for sacrifice: long days, missed birthdays, and the responsibility of showing up for people in moments of both joy and pain. And the landscape continues to shift, with audiences consuming information in more ways than ever before. Still, this career offers something special: purpose, adventure, and the chance to make a meaningful impact. Few jobs allow you to witness history, amplify underserved voices, and serve your community in the way journalism does. Keep showing up. Keep learning. Be kind to yourself along the way. Every challenge is shaping you into not just a stronger journalist, but a stronger person — and that growth and your purpose matters. #reporter #newslife #tvnews #journalists #localnewsmatters

Now, more than ever it’s important to trust the path you’re on and stay grounded in your purpose. 🙌 #localnews #localnewsmatters #tvjournalist

Gubernatorial candidate Steve Hilton, a conservative commentator and former policy advisor, is campaigning on lowering the cost of living, cutting government bureaucracy, and challenging what he describes as one-party rule in California—positioning himself as an outsider focused on shaking up the system. Hilton has emerged as one of the stronger fundraisers in the race, with support coming from a mix of small-dollar grassroots donors and some high-profile individual contributors, signaling early momentum in a wide-open field. #governor #politics #california #followthemoney #election2026

Chad Bianco is running for governor positioning himself as a tough-on-crime conservative, focusing his campaign on public safety, stricter immigration enforcement, and rolling back what he argues are failed criminal justice policies in California. On the fundraising side, Bianco’s support is coming largely from conservative donors, law-enforcement allies, and grassroots Republican contributors, with much of his online fundraising driven through small-dollar donations. If elected governor, former U.S. Representative Katie Porter promises to tackle the cost of living, strengthen consumer protections, and hold corporations accountable — themes that defined her time in Congress. Major donors to her campaign include labor groups, progressive organizations, and grassroots supporters nationwide, with many contributions coming through ActBlue. But the campaign has also faced scrutiny after several viral videos showed Porter in tense exchanges with a reporter and a staffer — moments critics say raise questions about her leadership style, while supporters argue they’re being taken out of context. Former U.S. Health Secretary and former California Attorney General Xavier Becerra is running for governor, campaigning on protecting what he calls the “California Dream” — with a focus on lowering the cost of living, expanding health care access, and defending workers’ rights and civil protections. Major donors to his campaign include labor unions, healthcare groups, and Chevron. The campaign says a significant share of contributions are also coming from grassroots donors through ActBlue. #cagovernor #politics #california #followthemoney #election2026

San Jose Mayor Matt Mahan is emerging as a potential dark horse in California’s governor’s race. While he’s still polling in the single digits and isn’t yet a statewide household name, he’s drawing significant financial backing from Silicon Valley tech leaders and business groups. Mahan, a moderate Democrat and former tech entrepreneur, is campaigning on housing affordability, reducing homelessness, cutting government red tape, and improving public safety, often positioning himself as a pragmatic “change” candidate focused on getting government “back to basics.” With the field still wide open ahead of the June 2 primary and November election, money and momentum could still reshape the race. #cagovernor #california #politics #followthemoney #election2026

A bit of a personal post — a number of you know I’ve got a ballroom dancing habit ✨ It’s something I started a couple of years ago in honor of my late grandfather, and as part of a personal goal to make space for new creativity and movement in my life. Well…I’m super tickled to share that I recently competed and placed first in all of my events! I’m incredibly grateful…and proud to have done it in front of loved ones cheering me on. Adult life can be busy and demanding, and the headlines can be heavy. So it’s been a real joy to carve out time for something that brings back a sense of childlike curiosity and wonder. Wishing a little bit of that same joy for you today 💛

Most candidates in the California governor’s race are running campaigns funded by single-digit millions. Billionaire investor and environmental activist Tom Steyer is operating on a completely different scale. Steyer is positioning himself as a climate-focused candidate who says California must accelerate the transition to clean energy while also tackling housing costs and economic inequality. On the fundraising side, Steyer has largely self-funded his campaign, pouring tens of millions of dollars of his personal fortune into the race — far outspending many other candidates so far. Next: a closer look at who’s funding the rest of the candidates. #politics #cagovernor #election2026 #steyer #california
