I sat on this for a whole year.
Last International Women's Day I spoke at the Brooklyn Museum. The same museum I took school trips to as a kid. The same one I passed every Labor Day with the music still going and the flags still flying. The same one I snuck into First Fridays at when I was younger and just becoming myself.
And I got to bring my whole family.
My mom , who came to Brooklyn as a teenager, watched her only child sit on center stage in that building.
I don't know why I didn't post this sooner. Maybe some moments are so full you just need to hold them for a while before you can share them.
