KVOST STIPENDIUM & CLAUS MICHALETZ PREIS 2026 : The Kunstverein Ost is announcing this year’s KVOST Stipendium, which is awarded in combination with the Claus Michaletz Preis since 2022. The 10,000 Euros prize is established in memory of the publisher and founder of the Secco Pontanova Foundation, Claus Michaletz. The full amount of the prize money goes to the scholarship holders. Together with the KVOST scholarship, which includes an artist in residency in Berlin with a subsequent solo exhibition at KVOST, the awarding of the Claus Michaletz Preis enables further, sustainable support for the artists. : The scholarship is aimed at artists whose biographical roots lie in Central and Eastern Europe / the former Eastern Bloc. : With the grant, KVOST invites artists to trace the complex network of meanings of Leipziger Strasse / Dönhoffplatz and its surroundings or delve into other geographical and biographical aspects of the East. The works created in this process will be presented in a solo exhibition starting with Berlin Art Week in September 2026. : The application documents are now available: /en/kunstverein/kvost-scholarship/ Application deadline is April 17th, 2026. : Previous scholarship holders were the Romanian artist Vlad Nancă in 2019, the Portuguese artist Cristina Ferreira-Szwarc in 2020, the Ukrainian artist Olena Pronkina in 2022, the Romanian artist Larisa Sitar in 2023, the Polish artist Magdalena Ciemierkiewicz in 2024, and the Georgian artist David Apakidze in 2025. : Kunstverein Ost – KVOST for short – was established in 2018 and is dedicated to promoting artists from Central and Eastern Europe or whose life and work are shaped by the former Eastern Bloc. : Picture: exhibition view, KVOST 2025 : Courtesy: David Apakidze / Gallery Bukiavakhania /Tbilissi and KVOST, Berlin : photographer: @valentinwedde : @seccopontanova #clausmichaletzpreis @apakidzedavid @magdalenac @larisasitar @olenapronkina @christinaferr @vladnanca @bukiavakhania @step.koal @officeforart

___ #davidapakidze #kunst #art #berlin #berlinartweek #georgien #georgia #kunstverein #ost #ausstellung #exhibition

CLAUS MICHALETZ PREIS : DAVID APAKIDZE : AS PART OF THE FEATURED SECTION OF @berlinartweek : OPENING : WED 10 SEP : 6 - 9 PM : AWARD CEREMONY : 6:30 PM : WELCOME : STEPHAN KOAL : DIRECTOR KVOST : INTRODUCTION: NATHALIE HOYOS : CURATOR : ADVISORY BOARD KVOST : WORDS OF GREETING : SVEN LEHMANN : CHAIR OF THE COMMITTEE ON CULTURE & MEDIA IN THE GERMAN BUNDESTAG AND MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT FOR BÜNDNIS 90/DIE GRÜNEN : AWARD CEREMONY : SILKE MANSKE : CHAIRWOMAN OF THE BOARD SECCO-PANTANOVA STIFTUNG : At KVOST, the artist presents his exhibition „The Knight at the Crossroads“, centering on a queer migrant envisioned as a modern knight. In folklore, the crossroads marks the moment when a hero must choose between diverging paths. The exhibition draws on this motif but places the moment of decision in a contemporary, dystopian context where the outcome remains uncertain. Unlike the traditional hero who returns victorious, this knight is caught in a state of constant movement and uprootedness. His vulnerable armour is symbolised by a motorcycle helmet with a visor made of traditional stained glass. : Picture: Untitled, 2025, car door, stained glass, spray paint : Courtesy: David Apakidze, Gallery Artbeat, Tbilisi and KVOST, Berlin : @apakidzedavid @step.koal @nathalie.hoyos @officeforart @_svenlehmann_ @silke.manske @gallery_artbeat @secco_pontanova_stiftung
