Als @evajinek woorden geeft aan je verhaal is dat toch even slikken om terug te lezen. Maar het is wie ik ben. Wie ik ben geworden en waar ik nu sta. En daar ben ik stiekem, eigenlijk toch wel verdomd trots op! Het is ook slikken om alle bijzondere, mooie en lieve reacties te mogen ontvangen. Sjonge wat zijn er toch veel lieve mensen op de wereld. Beloofd is beloofd. Ook nog na 2,5 jaar. Waar ik op het eerste doek alleen de naam Pax zelf schreef, schreef Pax nu zijn eigen naam én die van zijn zusje. Drie generaties in 1 doek. One sold this weekend. Which means; only one piece remains. ‘Wise’ embroidered on raw jute, with coarser stitches. Because that’s what her eyes asked for. That’s how I feel her soul. You see, the series ‘Soul Searching’ started with a provocation: AI-generated photo portraits. Technically perfect faces. But completely empty. No soul in the eyes. So I took the pictures as a reference and designed four works. Four portraits that I gave a soul. Each work, a different material or technique. Because each face demanded something else. SOLD - “Pure” from the ‘Soul Searching’ series has found a new home. After spending almost 10 months at @unit4art , she came back to my studio for just a short stay and is already leaving again for a new space to live in. Since sharing the selected collection through my newsletter yesterday, four works of art have already sold. Today I’m already bringing a piece to its new home. I’ve been a bit quiet on Instagram this past week. I’m currently in the middle of a new commission, fully in the process of designing, which means searching, building and shaping ideas. So my focus is simply there. Sometimes I’m quiet here, which doesn’t mean I’m gone. I’m just working. I’m in my head, basically.

Commissions are full until the end of September. After that, there’s only space for one piece this year. Lately, I’ve been noticing something. People don’t wait. They think ahead. Next week, I’ll start designing a piece that was already reserved last year. They came by. Looked. Felt. We talked. Explored the possibilities. We started shaping their ideas. They secured their place. And now, a year later, we begin. This week, another commission came in. Inspired by my series ‘Beneath the Surface’. Not an existing piece but a concept they connected with. I’ll translate that into something personal. The details will become their story. They’ve been searching for the right artwork for years. So no rush. But still; their place is now secured. This work will become the fourth and final piece in the series. Which means two works are still available. The rest has already been chosen. Sometimes even before it existed.
