I’ve always felt that jazz standards and baroque arias shared a similar format and flair for improvisation.
In that vein here is the ‘A prime’ section of the jazz standard Nature Boy. From our performance in the 'scene-ouvert' at the March @lepubclassique concert. 🎼
(I claim no expertise on baroque ornamentation, but also don't apologize cause improv is still historically informed thank you very much 😈)
It just happens to also be perfect timing to highlight my incredible friend and collaborator @reedallend . Who performed an opera that afternoon, sang in (and recorded) my concert, and then absolutely slayed this piece on the keys.
