@steamgenerator.doom and "Hopeless Romantic" on Cd. After being limited to a live-only CDR, Hopeless Romantic finally got a proper CD release via Berlin’s
@metalloscope.music . Originally out in 2023, it’s now available to a much wider audience. The package also includes the full debut EP Black As Coal (2019), adding extra value and a deeper look into the band’s evolution.
There’s no mistaking where this is headed: Steamgenerator double down on their core sound, delivering classic doom metal in its purest form-slow, crushing, and soaked in melancholy. Right from 'Untertage', the album locks into place-its unsettling intro opening the door to a world of pure gloom. What follows is relentless doom: dark, unyielding, and fueled by a suffocating, hypnotic force. Following the opener’s melancholic tone, 'Age Of Transmission' takes a different path-leaner, more precise, and marked by a chilling restraint that lends the track an almost clinical feel.
'1000 Flowers' reveals a more vulnerable side of the band, weaving subtle melancholy into the otherwise heavy sound and creating a striking contrast. 'Locomotive Rust' brings the weight back, opening with a raw, mechanical force before settling into a steady, unyielding rhythm and guitars that feel almost physically present.
The bonus material adds real depth and extra layers to the album, expanding its impact rather than just padding it out. It’s a strong addition that’s well worth checking out.
