Happy New Year, my friends. I have a little announcement to make: Steady Waves Center will be closing in February. Over the past 2.5 years I’ve been fortunate enough to realise a big dream of mine: to provide a physical space for my community ( and beyond! ) to walk in and learn about all things end of life, death, and grieving. Many beautiful souls have graced this space and laid down in my @wovenfarewellcoffins willow coffin. I’ve had more deep, life-affirming conversations within these walls than I can count, and have hosted some truly special events and workshops. Like everything, this chapter too, must end— but with endings come beginnings. I’ve been working full-time planning funerals with a most wonderful company in the UK called Aura, @aura_celebrate_life , and creating new life within myself as well ( yes, a baby ). Maybe some day there will be a different physical iteration of Steady Waves, but I hope that I’ve been able to inspire a few others to think about creating similar spaces in their communities— I’d love to see one in every village, town, and city someday! I’ll still be hosting living funerals , workshops, information sessions and training others - and I will always, always, always prioritize serving the dying. Thank you for being here with me, and for all of the support you’ve offered. It’s not lost on me how absolutely magical this community we’re building is— I feel very grateful. Lots of love, E . . . . . 📸 @george.fields

**available for pre-order! Until November 30!** The Self-led Living Funeral kit is a mailorder version of the living funeral ceremony, intended to empower individuals to move through the living funeral ceremony on their own time, in their own space. This kit is for anyone desiring to experience the living funeral who, for whatever reason, cannot attend an in-person or online event, or simply wishes to go it alone ( with pre-recorded guidance, of course ). The beauty of this kit is that it allows the user to dip into the mortality meditation whenever and wherever they please..whether it be once per year at a special tree, or once per month in their office. The kit comes in either a USB-stick version, or a cassette tape with accompanying downloadable documents. Each kit includes ( but is not limited to ): 🤍USB Drive containing video + audio versions of the ceremony 🤍A music-only file for reflection or self-guided meditation 🤍PDF setup guide 🤍Riso-printed “What To Expect” zine ..and more.. OR 🤍 A cassette tape with accompanying downloadable documents 🤍Riso-printed “What To Expect” zine.. and more ;) I’ve been thinking about this for a long time and am so excited to bring it to fruition. Please let me know if you have any questions. I am to get pre-orders shipped by the new year ! £38 preorder 🤍 After Nov 30 they will be available on my website for £44. love to you all x . . . #deathmeditation #eol #deathdoula #livingfuneral

Really beautiful testimonial about the self-led living funeral from K: “I attended Emily’s Living Funeral in person at the Philosophical Research Society in September of 2023, so I knew what to expect from the self-led kit. My first experience was so powerful and I wasn’t sure how I’d feel doing the ceremony by myself instead of with a larger group. I thought her instructions were so thoughtfully written and loved that she included resources, including her own contact information, if someone needed extra support. I was moved by how powerful the self-led ritual was. I especially loved how she continued the sounds for an extra long time after she finished speaking to allow for gentle reemergence back to reality. It definitely felt as potent as my in person experience, and I loved that it arrived just in time for the New Year. It’s a wonderful way to give yourself a fresh start on a spiritual level!” Thank you 🤍🤍 #livingfuneral

Well it’s been a year of riding the waves of change and growth. The Center closed its doors, we welcomed new life into the world, and a few projects have come to fruition. My biggest areas of focus heading into 2025 are observing how I choose to speak, and what I choose to put my attention and energy into. My biggest goals are to serve others from a state of pure gratitude and earnestness and that my words are promoting peace and love. I know this all sounds very corny 😃 I will do my best. Would love to hear your intentions if you’d like to share 🤍 Thank you to anyone who has supported my efforts this year, and for every kind message. I appreciate your ongoing support, as I recently found out I need to come up with quite a large sum of money for endometriosis/adenomyosis surgery. I’m sharing this because it feels good to.. and you feel like my friends. I’m not worried, somehow.. I know it will all be OK! I think working within this world of death helps put everything into perspective and keeps me calm. If there’s anything you think I can do for you though, send me a message. Lots of love and Happy New Year ✨

I’ve got some riso printed copies of my “What to Expect” zine, available on my webstore. I’ll likely throw in an extra if purchasing from the US to account for shipping. Message me with any questions or issues 🤍 Printed by @earthbound.press

I’m a death doula, now what? You’ve taken courses, you’ve read books, you’ve made your social media accounts.. where are all the clients ? We need to be out in our communities. We need to be talking to the families who need us. We need to be educating. We need to be in service to those around us. If you’re offering services online as I also am, an internet presence is also important — but it’s key to remember that we don’t need more IG handles.. we need eye contact, we need hands to hold 🤍 It’s also vital that we remember to spread our message sensitively and to those who are actually open to receiving the information. When I first started out, I was so excited and passionate about eol care for all that I would blurt things out to anyone in front of me (usually at a grocery store check out). These days I’m more discerning.. we need to feel things out. What do yall think ? #deathdoula
