🌟 Focus on the talents 🌟 This month, we sat down with Mattia Ottaviani, camera and Steadicam operator from South Tyrol, to talk about his journey in film and the unique challenges of working behind the camera. 🎤 Working with the Steadicam is demanding, both physically and mentally. What fascinates you most about working with this tool? “Yes, mind and body are put to the test, and perhaps that is exactly what makes the role so unique. When the motor starts, it’s electrifying: you become part of the scene, almost another actor; the viewer’s gaze, the choreography, and the blocking become essential. Everything must work in synergy, and you find yourself at the center of the action. The responsibility is high, because you must allow the director to choose different acting points of view while maintaining the agreed camera movement. At the same time, you must remain flexible to leave room for interpretation, positions, timing, or focus may change. Il 2025 volge al termine e non posso che essere grato per tutte le nuove esperienze, le amicizie, la fiducia, le sfide, le gioie e le difficoltà che mi ha portato quest'anno. Ringrazio di cuore tutti i DPs, registi, produttori, colleghi, amici e familiari che mi hanno sostenuto. Ringrazio mia moglie, il cui supporto si sente ogni giorno, ogni km fuori casa, ogni notte in autostrada, la ringrazio che dà un senso a questo lavoro pazzo e una casa a cui tornare. È stato un anno di fermento lavorativo e spero che il 2026 possa essere ancora più radioso.

Mattia Ottaviani ci racconta come ha girato una delle scene del film SQUALI di Alberto Rizzi prodotto da Magenta Film in collaborazione con Ippogrifo Produzioni 🌀 Un piano sequenza complesso, costruito su movimenti coreografati al centimetro. 📍 Girato in esterni, con luce naturale e numerose comparse in movimento, il setup prevedeva Steadicam + ARRI Alexa Mini, con follow focus wireless gestito da un secondo operatore. 🎯 Fondamentale la sinergia con il macchinista, che ha garantito fluidità e precisione nei passaggi critici, mantenendo continuità narrativa e respiro visivo.
