Static II Barcelona | (mostly) unused footage | 2003-2004 | Barcelona, Spain
I randomly popped in a tape today and found this edit. I'm not sure if I made it or if @mystaticlife made it. All of the audio was choppy, but it was so good I had to share it. I haven't seen most of this footage in 23 years. When I noticed that the edit was close to 8 minutes long, the only two songs that popped in my head were Don McLean's "American Pie" and Bob Dylan's "Hurricane." Obviously, there was no question.

Bobby Puleo | 2003 | El Paso, San Antonio, Houston, TX
I'm pretty sure that a Puleo sighting here in Texas is extremely rare.
Back in 2003, I was lucky enough to document him in the wild...
...streets of Texas that is.
Enjoy, because you probably won't see it ever again.

Jack Sabback | Rich Adler | 2004 | Philadelphia, PA
Josh sent me to Philly numerous times to film Jack, Rich, Ricky Oyola, and Damien Smith for their part in Static II. Meeting and filming Ricky for the first time was very intimidating. (more on that story later) Staying with Jack and Rich on Mole St. was awesome. They were very accommodating, even though when I first arrived, they asked if I wanted to sleep in the basement on a blood-stained mattress that they saw on some curb. (Do y'all remember that?)
After Rich got the fakie 360 flip hippie jump, he told me that he wanted to do it in a line. I remember that it was late at night, and I was thinking, "What the FUCK is this kid talking about?!!"
He did that line not long after.
Do not underestimate RADler.

A bunch of legends skating a hubba ledge in Las Vegas, circa 1999. Some of these guys thought they were filming for their 411 profiles, the Planet Earth or the Rhythm video but little did they know I’d soon abscond back to Florida with all the footy and sneak it into the first Static video 😎
Pretty rad to look back and see who was on the session that day and what everyone was trying. I think we need to start a GoFundMe to send Ed & Kenny back to Vegas to get these clips. Who’s with me? Can I come too?

A session at the Miami synagogue rails back in 1998 during the early stages of working on the first Static. @iamyourvillain set it off as usual and then the whole gang joined in. I know this was early because the VX-1000 was still new to me and I still didn’t own a death lens yet, so the dreaded $60 bubble lens makes an appearance and utterly destroys what could’ve been a few sick clips. Thankfully I think the death lens came into the picture a month or two later but a lot of the Miami footage in this video featured the crazy vignette and budget glass of that old Hi-8 wide angle lens
Another one of my favorite lines filmed for a Static video. @steve_brandi East India, London 2007
We spent a couple months in London filming for Static III and even though it looks like it’s in Shanghai, this simple but tight ledge spot became a favorite for a few members of our crew. @nate___broussard had some memorable lines here as well. Steve’s line was filmed during the same trip but instead of him having a small section in a montage Steve wanted to save his best stuff for a future project. Little did we expect that next project would be Static VI, 7 years later.
Back of the bench wallie session at Southbank with the London boys back in 2006. Never expected to get multiple bangers at Southbank, especially in one session 🙌🏻
Kenny Reed, Singapore 2004 filmed by @antclaravall
While working on Static II we got asked to work on a new 411VM “Around the World” video. So Kenny @chillrobgee@internetfamous@honenlife1@pushperiodical Anthony Claravall and I launched on this wild trip through Asia hitting 7 countries in one month. I had to fly out early for my brothers wedding so Anthony finished up filming in Vietnam, Cambodia and here in Singapore. Thankfully he saved some clips for me to use for Kenny’s Static part. And this wild marathon line really helped in the final edit.
Kenny classically loved to push every flight to the last minute and was definitely the last person on the plane EVERY single time we flew to a new location. The “Traveler” notoriously stressed me the hell out every time we flew together 🙈We continuous would be filming bangers til like 45 mins before our flights until we’d hop into a cab or Tuk-tuk in a panic to rush to the airport covered in sweat and street dirt. Good times.
Several of Kenny’s Static II clips came from this trip and many from Claravall. Thanks again Ant. Should we do a reunion trip?
Static VI session in New Haven, CT with a solid crew in town for the grand opening of @plush96orange
Love how Jordan just casually hops onto that dock like it’s just an every day manny pad every time 🙈
