Introducing One Sydney Harbour’s Pool House.
As a design studio we wanted to think beyond superficiality and instead design the amenities of this project to truly nurture the wellbeing of the inhabitants through thoughtful and integrated design.
Increased daylight, natural ventilation and thermal comfort as well as using tactile finishes and natural materials were key focuses for this area.
Inspired by the timeless designs of ancient Roman bath houses and Japanese Onsen baths the indoor pool uses dark green marble inspired by the experience of swimming in an enchanted forest pond. Natural white marble was used for the steam room to add to the textural experience. Its placement and direction allows for natural daylight to gently pass through the space illuminating the room.

Introducing One Sydney Harbour’s The Sanctuary.
The state-of-the-art gym and wellness space was conceived as a complementary “twin” space to the indoor green pool with its warm, solid timber “box” made from natural oak. The light and airy space features wide plank timber flooring and a rippling wall comprised of vertical timber dowels that are gently lit and improve the acoustics.
The central zone of the gym incorporates an absorptive floor for the weight area, and we chose to add further character of the space through the maroon red and white inlay as it was reminiscent of an athletic track.
The gym features a bespoke leather clad bench design by State of Craft which was inspired by pommel horses from 19th century gyms.

Introducing One Sydney Harbour’s Orangery, by Lendlease. In collaboration with Lendlease, we were commissioned as the interior designer for all premium and luxury apartments and a portion of the amenities in this landmark Sydney development, working collaboratively with the Pritzker Prize winning Renzo Piano on architecture and Arent & Pyke on procurement.
Inspired by European 18th-century greenhouses, the orangery is designed with a stone floor, rattan-lined ceiling, and adjoining verandah. We designed the space to give residents the freedom to relax and entertain in the many settings on offer including a Billiards Room, Wine Gallery, and The Blue Room.
State of Craft worked closely with Manapan, a Yolngu owned furniture maker in Northern Queensland, who built a number of bespoke furniture pieces, designed by State of Craft, for the residents club including coffee tables and a room divider that were created using locally sourced and sustainably harvested timber, and weaving of screw palms strands.

We’re excited to celebrate the official launch of Shard Place, London.
State of Craft were commissioned to design the interiors of all 176 apartments and the extensive communal amenity spaces, working in close collaboration with the @rpbw_architects Renzo Piano Building Workshop as the architects. The result is light-filled, comfortable apartments and outstanding amenities that set a new standard with outstanding spatial quality, attention to detail and overall design coherence.
This landmark 27-storey development in the heart of the city features a rooftop pool, communal kitchen, resident lounges, spa rooms, a state-of-the-art gym and in-house cinema. Blending the hospitality of a private club with the comfort of an urban pied-a-terre, Shard Place has redefined how a rental project can look and feel.
Our work ranged from strategic consultancy and space planning, to fit-out design and the curation of furniture and artwork for every room (in collaboration with @richeldisfineart ). The project allowed us to consider all internal spaces as part of a continuous design environment in the spirit of the Bauhaus “Gesamtkunstwerk”. The outcome is marked by great consistency of detailing and finishes, bespoke doorhandles and dozens of unique furniture pieces designed by State of Craft - from dining tables to bedside tables to pendant lights.
