I created this Tequila-based cocktail for Spring 2023 that I named JACARANDA💜. It pays tribute to the brilliant flowers that bloom on the Jacaranda trees of Mexico City. The ravishing purple that emanates from this cocktail highlights the flower’s most iconic color while transporting us to ‘primavera en la ciudad,’ a time of year when the Jacaranda flowers wash the city and mesmerize all from above and below. Jacaranda trees are native to Brazil but were brought to Mexico in the 1920s by Japanese architect Tatsugoro Matsumoto. They are an eclectic species that have rooted well in a foreign land and found their way onto the pages of Mexican history and culture.
