We’re delighted to welcome ceramicist Sophie Learmont of @starlingpots to the Double Red Duke for the next gathering in our craft series, Awaken the Maker.
With a background in architecture and design, Sophie draws inspiration from the natural world to create beautifully tactile ceramics with organic textures and earthy palettes. During this hands-on workshop, guests will design and hand-build their own ceramic platter using Staffordshire stoneware clay, experimenting with natural grasses, pigments and glazes to create a one-of-a-kind piece for home.

Earlier this month I was delighted to run a ceramic mug making workshop in Studio21 at the wonderful @victoriaworksstudios . My lovely students trusted me to guide them through the design and making process to create their own unique hand built mugs. I LOVE the energy, creativity and unique designs they produced.
After the workshop I carefully dried, kiln fired, glazed and 2nd fired their precious pieces. It was a joy to open the kiln to them this morning. They are now all wrapped and ready to deliver.

Blue skies, creative fun and some fabulous mugs made @victoriaworksstudios today.
Here is a little peak at what the lovely workshop attendees made, some had been to a workshop before and some were total newbies to the wonderful world of clay!
I will now slowly dry them, fire and clear glaze them and they will be ready in 3 weeks- get the kettle on! 🤍
