Sometimes—quite often I don’t have a dreams. I have a nightmare. I feel them. My dreams are often completely black, and empty but the feeling of unexcited and disturbance can to me and wake up in the middle of the night. I imagine it is no secret to anyone that Lord and I are absolutely captivated by Maila Nurmi—by her life story and her vampire alter ego. Personally, I find it incredible to look through her vintage photographs—especially her letters—and, of course, her sketches of costumes and the ideas that crossed her mind regarding how her image, style, and demeanor should evolve. I recognize something similar in my own approach to image-making—specifically, in how I conceptualize my work when creating portraits. If you wish to learn more about the world of this magnificent horror icon—a figure I personally associate inextricably with the Gothic aesthetic—then you simply must read this book. Darkness is an integral part of the dark art genre; yet, despite the genre’s inherent nature, it is fundamentally about piecing oneself back together—about creating light out of infinite darkness. It is upon this philosophy that our dark art tandem is built. @christophe.szpajdel@anders_rockum@standarkart
A distinctive style or manner of drawing is born only amidst conflict—never in a vacuum, nor in silence and comfort. Regrettably, nothing truly new ever emerges under such conditions. I resisted this reality at the outset of my journey; yet, as I worked my way from one drawing to the next, I came to realize that any creative path is, fundamentally, a process of tearing down walls and breaking through barriers. Take, for instance, my approach to color: my understanding of color—and of the palette itself—is essentially inverted. This stands in stark contradiction to the classical approach; yet, as I see it, the true challenge lies in seeking a way out precisely where none appears to exist—and, ultimately, in finding that exit within this labyrinth we call Art. @standarkart@christophe.szpajdel #stanislavkrawczyk #standarkart #stanislavkrawczyk #stanislavkrawczyk #standarkart
This is one of those instances where one could speak endlessly about our strengths, our collaborations, and our body of work; yet, I believe there is a particularly crucial aspect to highlight. I feel it is essential that people become increasingly familiar with the “Dark Art Tandem”—what it represents, and the phenomenon it embodies. For me personally, I consider this to be one of the most significant milestones of my career; moreover, I believe it holds profound significance for anyone and everyone with a passion for the concept of Dark Art—and, in particular, for the Metal scene. It is the very quintessence of how two distinct worlds can merge to form a single, unified work of art. @christophe.szpajdel@standarkart #stanislavkrawczyk #standarkart @houseofneglect_@standarkart
