I’ve been favouring direct drive again recently. Specifically on the FP9. I ran DD for years back in the Tomas Haake and Jon Theodore medley days, then switched to chain and never really looked back. But lately I felt the pull back to direct drive… and I’ve been LOVING it. Over the years I’ve learnt that no gear actually makes you better. It always comes back to technique and how well you’ve dialled your foot in. That said, I’m seriously enjoying the feel of DD again right now.

I absolutely love this pocket… I’d say the ā€˜These Words’ is probably my favourite track to play with Natasha. Well, TBH, I actually love the whole set, but with this track in particular, I just love putting that swing on it. It’s super comfy to sit in. ā€˜These Words’ at @thetownfestival , in SĆ£o Paulo, Brazil. Also, something I’ve noticed is the context can change, but my playing doesn’t. I just do my thing and love it! Pop, metal, funk, fusion, this works for ALL of it. Heavy pocket, cranked snare, some nice swing, I’m there šŸ’ŖšŸ»

A collection of some of my favourite moments from my Primus Audition that just dropped. Be sure to check out the FULL episode (EP. 4), on their YouTube channel! Thanks again to Les, Ler, Brad, Tim, and ALL the Primus camp. What an incredible and surreal experience to say the least šŸ™šŸ» All I could ever hope for is to look back on this footage and feel a true sense of pride and joy, and I can assure you, that’s EXACTLY how I feel :)

Turns out a lot of you use these too! @gibraltarhardware Thrones for the win!!! I’m using 9608sft 9000 for ALL kit sessions (sometimes 3-4hrs at a time!), and the 9608R 9000 for all my padwork sessions. I’m sooooo happy with these. Like I said in my previous post, I’ve never felt this grounded and stable with a throne before, so this is quite a game-changer for me. And they can go super high too!!! šŸ’ŖšŸ»

LimpBizkit - MyGeneration : Drum Mix #2 (go headphones) šŸŽ§ Ok, so I made some changes… It’s subtle, but this is for the nerds. - boosted the 808 sub at the start, balanced the parallel compression on the kit, brought the hats and OHs down a fraction, dialled the room sound back a touch, and less crush on the Master. I always come in a little heavy handed on the first pass, so like to give the mix another go 24hrs later. Let me know your thoughts. šŸ’

I mean, when it comes to drum hooks, tone, and pocket, does it get any better??? šŸ¤” (use headphones) Knocked this out after tracking today. Single pass, no edits, just added a sub under my kick in the intro. #limpbizkit #johnotto #drums #drumming #drumlife

Should I do the whole song? It’s such a vibe. I sort’ve just knocked this intro out when I posted it as it came up on my run I play very different to @stewart_copeland , but there are enough common-grounds where I can tap into his thing, for sure. šŸ‘ŒšŸ» #drums #drumming #stewartcopeland #thepoliceband
