Bextexta
What even IS a Bextexta? And thanks for asking. Think Trip-Hop. Shoegaze. Hints of Brit-Pop through synths and beats. Washed out guitars and meandering dream-state vocals. Three piece from Hobart. Yep, Bextexta, that sounds about right. Single release gig!
TIM BOH
TIM BOH’s music is characterised by innovative soundscapes that blend the cutting-edge energy of IDM and Experimental Electronic with the catchy allure of Alt-pop. As a DJ/live musician hybrid, TIM BOH captivates audiences with live synth performances, mesmerizing vocals, and dynamic live-looping, creating an immersive, genre-defying musical experience. Fresh from WA, now a Tassie boy.
Colourvisions
Colourvisions are a genre-blending lo-fi pop duo from Hobart. Drawing from a deep well of trip hop, indie rock, and shoegaze influences, Colourvisions mix these sounds into something entirely unique. This will be their debut.

After not actually releasing Notes from a Dead Man’s Pocket (2) in 2004, my band The Keds of Ray Brower took centre stage in my music. We played some of the songs from NFADMP (2) live. The shows were full of energy and heart and will always hold such a special place in my musical history (that now feels like a very long one).
The thought behind not actually releasing my album was that The Keds would re-record the songs for a full band album. Several line up changes and an eventual departure from the project only ended up producing a live CD as a sort of parting gift.
But, as the Keds played shows around Hobart in the early/mid 2000s I was at art school. As part of my study I was in a unit for sound in which I focused on piano compositions heavily influenced by the genius of Erik Satie.
So…
Notes from a Dead Man’s Pocket 3 is a blend of NFADMP 2 and my art school days. It was actually released on CD in 2007 and featured the tracks from NFADMP 2 that The Keds weren’t playing. Subtitled Early Piano Works and Leftovers, it was literally just that. Experimenting with pieces less pop and more for the mind and soul.
Stream it! Enjoy!

Before embarking on my first full studio produced solo album Notes from a Dead Man’s Pocket (2), I was recording demos and ideas mostly in my bedroom. So, technically, the first version of NFADMP was a 21st Birthday present for my good friend Thom Mitchell in 2002. Only one burnt CD copy was made of this experimental and eclectic collection of songs and snippets.
But now…
Here it is for the world to hear. I had to think outside the box in terms of music gear and recording equipment. This mini album features a drum kit comprising of a back-of-an-acoustic-guitar-bass-drum and keys-on-a-tin-snare. It also brought the necessity for pianos to be recorded by an in built desk top computer mic situated at the other end of a house. Lastly, the album featured a funk/soul remix of the theme from Thomas the Tank Engine.
As a little bonus I’ve added the unreleased 2003 single ‘Double Jinks’. This song was intended to be the bridge between bedroom recordings and NFADMP 1 & 2. An introduction to what I was actually working on. It blends recordings both from Studio 440 Snug and my bedroom.
Stream! Enjoy!

20 years ago at the age of 24 I recorded an entire album intended to be released. It was recorded in a solar powered studio in Snug on Zip disks. It was to be my magnum opus. I formed a band called The Keds of Ray Brower to perform the songs live and then boom!!! The album could have life. But The Keds proved more than just this album and the recordings were soon shelved and mostly forgotten.
Until now.
This is Notes From A Dead Man’s Pocket as it was intended. It’s naive and my voice is thin but it has such great ideas on it. It’s almost a concept album that works best when listened from start to finish. I’m actually so very proud of it and excited to finally share it with everyone. Stream it! Enjoy!

On Friday the 1st of February 2019, the artist Stan Barnes went to the pub with some friends. Burgers were eaten, a song was ‘Shazamed’ and a daily occurrence began.
The accurate details of that particular evening have become somewhat hazy over the years, but here is what we know.
Stan heard a song playing in the pub that he quite liked. At this point in time he didn’t have the Shazam app on his phone so he couldn’t easily find out what the song was. Here is where it gets a little more intriguing. Someone Shazamed it for him and someone set a notification in Stan’s mobile phone to repeat every morning at 9am. The notification reads…
Davo Is Shazam
Today
Winnie
Presumably this was a reminder to ask Davo for the song that he had Shazamed the night before. But, Stan decided that if he was going to get a notification every day, then so was Davo. Every day since, Stan has taken a screen shot of the notification when it pops up on his phone, then texts the image direct to Davo.
But, did Davo actually Shazam the above mentioned song on his phone? We have checked his Shazam history and he had not Shazamed any songs even remotely close to the evening in question. We may never know what the song was. We may never know who actually Shazamed on that fateful night in the pub. All we are left with is a daily reminder, but for the artist Stan, it has become much more.
It is a reminder of how much we live in our mobile phones. How much we rely on them every day and just how incredibly powerful they are. In the good ways and the bad. Davo Is Shazam is at the forefront, a way for Stan to connect with his friend. This was more evident during the lockdowns of the global pandemic, but continues to be a beautiful little nudge just to say ‘I’m still here’.
With over a thousand mobile phone sized prints exhibited in a linear fashion. But the notification is still happening and Davo still continues to get a screen shot sent to him every day.

Some people know me best. I’m speechless at this belated 40th b’day painting from @alex_davern … it features the shop front of one of my favourite video rental stores and a little nod to Swamp Thing. Well worth the wait. Love …
