We need to raise £15,000 this summer to protect vulnerable wildlife from fires.
It only takes a few days of dry weather and a strong wind for a fire to take hold on a nature reserve. Ground-nesting birds, small mammals, reptiles, and countless insects are the first victims. They lose their nests, their young, and their food sources in minutes. Larger mammals like deer, fox, badger, and brown hare can usually outrun the flames, but fires destroy their food, shelter, and safe habitats, forcing them into unfamiliar or risky areas.
But we can reduce the risk. These funds will help to create stronger natural firebreaks, improve water access, and give our teams the training and equipment they need to act the moment a fire starts. It will also help to restore habitats already damaged by recent outbreaks.

The spotting was just the beginning… 👀
Now we need your help to identify what was found! Open iNaturalist and start confirming species.
Every ID = stronger wildlife data for Staffordshire 💚
You don’t need to be an expert. Simply open the iNaturalist app, tap on 'explore' in the settings and help suggest or confirm species. Every ID helps turn great photos into valuable conservation data.
