Wild by Kristin Hannah Available on eAudio and eBook NOW with no queue for a limited time only! From the New York Times number one bestselling author of The Nightingale and The Great Alone, Kristin Hannah, comes Wild, a remarkable story about the resilience of the human spirit, the triumph of hope, and the promise of new beginnings. In the rugged Pacific Northwest of the United States lies the Olympic National Forest - a vast expanse of impenetrable darkness and impossible beauty. From deep within this mysterious land, a six-year-old girl appears. Speechless and alone, she offers no clue as to her identity, no hint of her past. Having retreated to her hometown after a scandal left her career in ruins, child psychiatrist Dr. Julia Cates begins working with the extraordinary little girl. Naming her Alice, Julia is determined to free her from a prison of unimaginable fear and isolation, and discover the truth about Alice's past. The shocking facts of Alice's life test the limits of Julia's faith and strength, even as she struggles to make a home for Alice - and find a new one for herself.

The Odyssey by Homer Available on eAudio, narrated by Anton Lesser, NOW with no queue for a limited time only! It proves a long, 10-year journey, fraught with dangers, from Polyphemus, the one-eyed Cyclops, and the seductive Sirens, to the love of Calypso on her all-too-comfortable isle. When he arrives in Ithaca, he has to contend with a group of suitors who have been pressing his wife to forget about her husband, admit she is a widow, and marry one of them. Anton Lesser, one of Britain’s finest audiobook stars, brings this great classic to life in the new and imaginative translation by Ian Johnston.

🪶🌿 Create a Birdfeeder for Your Feathered Friends at Stone Library 🌿🪶 Having a birdfeeder is a wonderful way to support the birds in your local area. These smaller feeders help prevent too many birds gathering at once, reducing the risk of illness and helping keep them healthy. Place your feeder in a safe spot in your garden or on a windowsill so birds can enjoy access to food all year round. Once empty, simply give it a clean and refill it! ✨ Please note: We’ll be using coconut oil, so things may get a little messy – older clothes are recommended! 📍 Location: Stone Library 📅 Date: Thursday 28th May ⏰ Time: 10:30 AM 🎟️ Booking: Essential – £1.00 per child

Another fantastic Science Fair at Perton Library! 🔬✨ Over 1,700 people attended on Saturday and had an amazing time exploring, learning, and enjoying all the activities. There was everything from astronomy and meteorites, a F3 racing car to glacial boulders, VR headsets, recycling and comic workshops. Children could book onto Zoolab and STEMbotics sessions and we were also visited by an Imperial Stormtrooper whilst Perton Lakeside Choir entertained us with science themed songs. ' It was the liveliest library I’d ever visited, there was even a wonderful choir singing Elton John songs, which was great fun! The year of reading (and comics being a big part of that) is upon us, my friends!' - Marc Makes Comics 'A fantastic day out for all the family – so much to see, so much to learn in a welcoming, friendly environment. Well, done the library team and the Friends Group. ' 'What a fantastic turnout – Perton library is always the centre of the community! ' 'Space and rocks! We loved seeing the meteorites' A massive thank you to everyone who helped make the day such a success and to everyone who visited!! ✨ #GoAllIn #PertonLibrary @go_all_in_2026 @south_staffs_council @staffordshirecountycouncil @lapworthmuseum @marcmakescomics @archandheritage

Rugeley Library hosted the fantastic 'Hour Shakespeare' group last night for an hour of brilliant excerpts from Shakespeare's plays. Hamlet, MacBeth, Henry V, Richard III and others were covered by the group. The atmosphere was electric and people were asking when the group would be back as they left! The group are visiting other Staffordshire Libraries this year so watch this space for more performances! #GoAllIn #shakespeare
