What a weekend! Starting off 0-3, we battled 6 deep, but the girls still fought with everything they had. Not to mention, this is a young squad! On Sunday, we finished strong and were able to have all the girls there except Zakeria Loudd and Paris Shepherd.
2030 A’Zyriah Ayers, you just have to love the kid. She was under the weather all weekend. I took the kid out and asked her, “Are you sure you can go?” She looked at me like I was crazy, saying, “I ain’t laying down.”
Raelynne, Zam, and London gave everything they had—tired and all. The kids just kept fighting and fighting! They all came up big for us on both ends of the floor.
Erielle Gipson, Nyla Harris, and Joi Howard were just straight pests on defense, guarding 94 feet and not backing down. Erielle controlled the game and did really well holding her own against older, faster guards. Nyla Harris is adjusting; once she figures everything out, she will definitely be a problem.
Justyce Long let it be known she is one of them—straight killer! A 3-level scorer, but the fact that she challenges herself defensively is big! She is giving 110 percent, playing the passing lane and guarding 1-5.
