NEW WORK: Design for London Calling: The Clash in the Capital, map and guide from @herb_lester and written by @_paul_gorman_ OUT NOW I teased the cover and by now some of you have seen this (or even better, have it) but here’s a closer look. The entire process started with an idea from Ben at Herb Lester looking at inspiration from punk zines of 70s and early UK punk posters. This being an invitingly robust place to dig around I embraced some of the quirks of zine layouts and typography (oh those ellipses after each entry). I also wanted to make parts of this as handmade as possible which included ripping up photocopies and creating the LC stencil for the map’s header. One of the few days there was no wind here in New Mexico made spraying EZ. I felt pretty clever creating the background for both sides of the map and hilariously, it’s covered almost entirely covered up by the copy blocks. But rest assured there is a full chaotic collage underneath. The piece as a whole features many Clash-related Easter Eggs (find ‘em!) and I kept the color scheme to that first album green & orange. The entire project is pretty massive—Paul Gorman wrote up 131 entries and it’s packed with many fascinating details that run the gamut of the band’s entire history (before and after). NEW WORK: LP jacket design for @thewogglesband , “Stop And Take a Minute” from @wickedcoolrecords Is this really the 9th LP I’ve designed for The Woggles? Yes, it is. I designed this back in August (that is a tasty lead time, people) and there wasn’t a single concept for this one but I was feeling the fake soundtrack vibe (again?) and decided to create kind of a mod cut up of an imaginary action-flick that would be a sub-James Coburn type picture. Less Dean Martin more Dean Stockwell. Literally hacking together imagery from across the spectrum featuring cars, intriguing spies and a nod to music here and there. And can we talk about the preponderance of purple? I will admit from 1989 to about 2019 I hated using purple on anything. The few projects that have purple I cringed at. But hey, it’s 2026 and purple is where it’s at, baby! Grab this one (great, as always) MAY 8 or if you’re lucky enough to be on a boat in the Gulf of MEXICO with the boys (Little Steven’s Underground Garage Cruise), they’ll have them THERE. SNEAK PREVIEW: Cover for London Calling: The Clash in the Capital, map and guide from @herb_lester Beyond excited to preview the front cover to this amazing project which details the story of The Clash in London with over 120 locations throughout the capital city. Annnnd maybe even more exciting is that the writer is none other than @_paul_gorman_ who wrote one of my all-time fave bios (Malcolm McClaren, please seek it out —beautifully written and truly eye-opening). Plus I got to use (obliterate, frankly) exclusive band photos by the legendary Adrian Boot. How could I not be stoked? And if you dare, take a look at some behind the scenes “making of” images—yes, I tried to cram in as many Easter eggs as I could. 🖌️ @luchadoresvseverything Art Collaborator @ssugiuchi - With a love of retro and monsters and his own art book coming out in 2026, bringing artist Scott Sugiuchi into the folds of our pages was an excellent choice by @rocketsarered ! His take on the classic film poster for Las luchadoras contra el robot asssino was revealed by @mundolibrearts a few days ago and it fits both our book and the aesthetic he has become known for all so well. We are exited to have him on board. Luchadores vs. Everything is the most unique book on the lucha libre film genre ever written. We launched on KS this past Thursday and hit our goal in ONE HOUR and within 24 hours we had nearly 300 backers and had achieved over 300% of the goal! Now we’re adding stretch goals to make the book even BIGGER and more awesome! THE YEAR IN REVIEW: So instead of re-posting my work from 2025 (along with dopey statistics) you get to see this giant pile of about 30 sketchbooks dating back to high school that I recently discovered. I’m grateful to still have these artifacts and happy with the fact that some online “service” won’t start charging me to hold onto them and/or use the content to “train” AI Some of these I’m scanning for my book (2026! It’s happening I swear) so no, you don’t get to see any embarrassing sketches until later. Sorry @weare1025 —you’ll just have to wait! Anyhow, have a lovely and safe NYE. 2025 kinda sucked but there were pockets of happiness and I’m gonna go out on a limb and say I think 2026 will be an improvement. Don’t let me down, okay?
