Maria Larocca's "Una Fantasmagoria" is a site-specific installation housed in the highest tower of Fortezza Vecchia in Livorno. The tower is filled with thick smoke and sound, creating an atmosphere that prompts the audience to contemplate their own exposure to time. It acts as an interstice, where visitors enter one by one and have the freedom to stay as long as they wish. They take breaks, find solace, enjoy silence, partake in auditory experiences... Larocca's work, a transdisciplinary research project, investigates the temporal aspect of the aesthetic process across various practices, guided by a praxis exploring authorial function regimes in artistic production.

‘Intendiamo Una fantasmagoria alla stregua di un proposito: l’invito a consegnare la dimensione di una esposizione alla materia del suo farsi, della sua fruizione, del suo uso’.
Una regione densa del tempo si schiude sugli spazi abitati della Fortezza, ritmata da apparizioni sonore, un incedere verso la sua stessa sparizione, o rivelazione.
Una fantasmagoria sarà visitabile nei giorni 22 e 23 settembre.

'We conceive Una fantasmagoria as a purpose: the invite to embrace the dimension of an exposure to the materiality of time in its unfolding, fruition and use.'
A dense realm of time unfolds upwards, upon the inhabited spaces of the Fortress, its rythm beaten by sound appeareances; a progression towards its own dissolution, or revelation.
Una fantasmagoria will be on view on 22th and 23th September.
Maria Larocca è un progetto di ricerca trasversale ai linguaggi della performance.
Il suo lavoro, attento a interrogare la dimensione temporale del processo estetico nella presenza del suo oggetto, può esprimersi ai confini di diverse pratiche (performance, musica, installamento) e può essere orientato da prassi che perlustrano i regimi della funzione autoriale nei processi di produzione artistica.
