Satria Nugraha Kalimat II: Echoes Air In this continuation of his evolving visual language, Satria expands on the poetics of vibration and impermanence where gesture, sound, and silence coexist. Each mark feels like breath suspended between moments, an echo translating emotion into form. Through an almost printmaking-like approach to painting, combined with string and pigments, Satria layers material and meaning composing quiet harmonies that resonate beyond the surface. Now on view as part of Satria Nugraha’s solo presentation KALIMAT at SUN.CONTEMPORARY, Bali, and online via our website.

‘Kalimat’ brings together voices that translate thoughts into form, where each artwork speaks through layers of meaning and emotion. In the space, the works find their rhythm—inhabiting, responding to, and transforming the environment around them. Now on view at SUN.CONTEMPORARY, Bali, or online via our website. Link in bio or get in touch for more information.

This is another post about the work from my current exhibition at @sun.contemporary . It started as a gradient from dark to bright, something I wanted to share about dawn in my mind. But after sitting untouched for over two months, I felt stuck and almost gave up on it. I pushed myself and covered that smooth colorful gradient I had been working on with dark blue and bold blue-ish black. It became much darker than I had planned - completely opposite. This piece kept resisting my intentions. It didn’t want bright colors; it wanted to explore something about NIGHT; dark, quiet, or whatever feelings led me to a different perspective on color, light, time and space. For me, the hardest part is knowing when to stop, especially when the piece already shows signs of direction or completion. NIGHTNOTES, Handstitched charcoal & pigments ink on linen. 110 x 130 cm, 2025.

Usual interpretation that we generally & intuitively understand in the same way; the everyday. That we all kinda just…get (used to be). - Some thought/notes I want to share. #yabegitulah
