In the transition to digital, we quickly forgot how to #shootfilm was way easier and liberating. Things come out just the way you see them with your bare eyes. It's a matter of #trust towards both the medium and yourself.
#themoreIthinkaboutit, the more I'm positive this is what every #transition has in common: as you get used to your new reality you lose memory of what you lost in the process. I guess this time I'm glad I hold on to the old ways as a #cinematographer

In hindsight, I guess this short talks about #thingsnevergoingthewaytheywereplanned. No way the shooting could go any different.
#thingshappened and we ended up having supper during the sunset we should have shot and spending the night in cars.
The sunset in the first frame was actually shot at dawn and the characters climbed up the mountain while going down to base camp.

I'm a well-behaved #cinematographer part 2. Director says "we go all in but we make it look like we didn't", I go nuts. Several location scoutings and meetings to setup a fitting shooting list later, we felt quite comfortable to stretch the concept of "going all in" all the way without crossing the thin red line of showing it.
This was my very last shortfilm before covid19 and in hindsight it was prophetical of what our lives where to become shortly after. The point is, #youcantmakeanomelettewithoutbreakingeggs. So we broke all the eggs we encountered in preproduction and then hid them under the carpet, so that the viewers would feel uncomfortable walking in this story.
Loved the #teamwork, loved the energy everyone put into it.
The more I grow in this line of work, the more I feel the cinematographer needs to be in touch with the script as much as the actors and director. Better put, every crew-member needs to be in touch with the script, both arts and techies. You can't pull focus or shape light without feeling the scene and you won't know how the scene feels until you see it flowing, unless you've taken your time to really sink in the script. It's so rare to be able to concentrate on the script while you're bouncing from gig to gig and it felt great to have the time need to develop this project thoroughly.

Huge #teamwork and #synergies were required to shoot this (kinda) solo effort. The result is a short #documentary about a man, his #father and their common passion for #bikes.
My #canon600d (kinda) still rocking #night shots and showing all its limits in daylight. My good old #zeiss #contaxyashica lenses saving the day.
Quick tip: #setlife can be tiresome, don't go to rock concerts the night before.
#cinematography for docs is hella fun: subjects, light and environment speaking for themselves
