Banaras Ki Goonj – The Echoes of a Living Legend
Banaras is not merely a city, but a living piece of weaving where history, legend, and unwavering faith are interspersed. It is a place where time folds itself, where every breath is a prayer, and every step is a dance between the mortal and the divine. This set of lands on the banks of the Ganga does not promise safety to anyone; instead, it promises a route to ultimate liberation, i.e., Moksha, from the cycle of Life and Death.
Walking through Banaras feels like walking through the pages of a timeless epic. Snaking along are lanes of good size to almost whisper the secrets into your soul- secrets of sages, scholars, saints, and all the common lives heavy with passion, ethos, and extraordinary creation. These ancient lanes do not merely hold life- they enlarge life. They carry not just footsteps- they carry legacies.
The ghats of Banaras — 80-plus in number — theirs every buzz with a vibration of its own, with rituals lighting their soul into being. A platform for the very drama of life, where the sacred mingles with the profane. The stillness of Assi Ghat, the speed of Manikarnika, where quick deaths merge with worship, and thumping Namo Ghat, bearing all orchestra waves of devotion but each in a somewhat different tone: must be quite a modest salad bowl of contrasts. Namo Ghat is an interesting juxtaposition of present and past — emphasizing the very fact that Banaras does not resist change; it embraces it and brings it to another level.
But also, beyond the spiritual and mythical, Banaras also holds a place as an artisan's cradle. The lanes speak of the richness of Banarasi weaves — sophisticated, royal, and symbolic beyond measure. These fabrics, certainly far more than mere garbs, are tangible heirlooms of yore, wrought with gold threads and memories of millennia.

In the heart of the Namibia Desert, Deadvlei is one of the most surreal landscapes on Earth. It’s a white clay pan surrounded by towering red sand dunes, where dozens of blackened, leafless trees stand frozen in time.
In Sossusvlei’s silent Deadvlei, time doesn’t move,
trees stand like memories, untouched, unforgotten,
held forever in a desert’s quiet embrace. #travelgram #loveyourself
A mini vacay was exactly what I needed 💗 Good views, great drinks and even better vibes in St. Barths. Truly a must visit. @chevalblancstbarth
