"My Old Friend" is finally out: The new and wonderful song by @thinlear , for which I’ve had the chance to create this second animated piece featuring the same characters from the last music video.
The background come from real pictures I took through the kaleidoscope I had as a child, which I think connects really well with the nostalgic feeling of the song 🌈
That kaleidoscope became the heart of the whole project, inspired by the hypnotic and ever-shifting mood of "Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds" by The Beatles. ✨

I've been working on the new music video for @thinlear 's beautiful cover of "The Beast In Me"
The loop shows a weird and decadent dance between a skeleton and its personal demon, the one we all carry inside 👹💚 Only @thinlear knows how much I enjoy animating dancing skeletons and demons in this way.
Here are some bits of the process:
1️⃣ The 15-second loop that runs throughout the whole video
2️⃣ Some early character ideas
3️⃣360º view of the skeleton: simplifying a skeleton enough to animate it frame by frame (without losing your mind) is no joke
4️⃣ 360º view of the demon: getting to know your characters is important
5️⃣ A demon smear I sadly didn’t use in the end. But there are more hidden in the video… there always are 😉
6️⃣ BTS of myself dancing at home, surrounded by cat toys, getting into character, right before giving in to the dancing devil again 💃👹

📚 Speaking of which, Grendel, by John Gardner, is a little book recommendation from the @thinlear that was very inspiring for the creative process. I must confess I haven’t finished it yet (life has been busy lately with animating, moving, and of course, dancing) but I’m enjoying it a lot and definitely recommend it

Some years ago, I started reworking some of these old drawings digitally with the idea of creating a series of prints. In the end, I felt they were getting too dark, and life got too busy to keep up with selling prints.
I wanted to share this one today because I had a dream that felt very ‘doppelgängery.’ 🌝🌚It made me think about picking up my old sketchbooks again someday (something I usually do briefly in January before life gets too stressful)
Se me ha complicado la existencia y he tardado semanas en acabar este dibujo del reto. Acostumbrada a los retratos esto ha sido un poco reto. También por ser un dibujo tan oscuro.

Hacía mucho que dibujaba sin prisas, sin plazos, sin compromisos ni plazos y, en definitiva, sin estrés 🧘🏼♀️
Para éste también he estado experimentando con IA en el proceso creativo y la búsqueda de referentes y me parece una herramienta muy interesante a pesar de todos los detractores. El objetivo no es generar una imagen que poder copiar tal cual sino más bien ideas y conceptos visuales con los que poder jugar

En este dibujo he experimentado utilizando imágenes generadas con IA como referencia. El proceso de buscar referentes ha sido mucho menos frustrante que habitualmente y el proceso bastante divertido. Lo volvería a hacer (y lo volveré a hacer)

Probablemente no, pero si lo hago está claro que va a ser algo diario ¡Qué le den al algoritmo y a la súperproductividad! 🙌🏼
Pensaba que nada sería más fácil que dibujar un retrato sin dibujar un retrato, pero al final me ha dado para experimentar bastante. La verdadera magia del dibujo tradicional es la necesidad de lidiar con los errores y creo que es un ejercicio muy necesario, tanto para el dibujo como para la vida en general. Deberíamos ser todos un poco más analógicos.
