Just left Sardinia and already missing it. We spent most of our time in La Maddalena — quiet mornings by the water, long lunches, and evenings wandering the little streets — with one night in Olbia before heading home. I loved the food, the people, and trying to speak Italian every day. My favorites: “buonasera” (good evening), and the always useful “Ciao!”, and the always essential “Un cappuccino, per favore.” Every night after a full day of being tourists, we’d crash in our hotel room and watch the Italian version of Wheel of Fortune. Somehow it was just as entertaining, even though I barely kept up with the words on the board. Sardinia was everything I hoped for — warm, relaxed, and full of charm. I was genuinely sad to leave.

Spending just over a week exploring beautiful Corsica — an island with such a fascinating blend of French and Italian influences. Interesting cities, gorgeous beaches, warm people, and history everywhere you look. In Ajaccio, Napoleon’s birthplace, his legacy is everywhere— we toured the house where he was born, still liveable to this day! Then we moved on to Bonifacio, a lovely port in the south of the island. While there we explored the citadel and old town within the citadel walls. We lucked out arriving during the Tour of Corsica boat race. Fascinating to see - all of the yacht racing teams, the skill of whom in the piloting of their boats was impressive. Bonifacio was beautiful, so beautiful it doesn’t even seem real - the Citadel, the old town, the limestone cliffs, the port. Incredible. We stayed at hotel Solemare with a balcony overlooking the port and it was amazing. I absolutely love Corsica.

Great time shooting the Under Armour Eastside 10k this morning. The rain stayed away and it was a perfect day for the race.

Seen recently in our garden on Bowen Island, a beautiful Canadian Tiger Swallowtail butterfly. These butterflies live a mere 12 to 15 days. They have hindwings (hence the name “swallowtail”) and blue and orange spots near the tails. They are widespread across most of Canada and into the northern U.S. states, especially in forests and woodlands. It is an important pollinator, as can be seen here in our catmint (nepeta). The Swallowtail butterfly is believed to represent transformation and embodiment of souls who have crossed over to the spiritual realm. #CanadianTigerSwallowtail #ButterflyLove #Pollinators #BowenIsland #GardenMagic #Nepeta #Catmint #ButterfliesOfInstagram
