Halfway through the fall quarter, we want to remind you all about the free resources available to you at Student Health (link in bio)! 🌟 The Reproductive Justice Program makes available essential care regardless of your UC SHIP coverage. Student Health offers a supportive, nonjudgemental environment to ask questions, gain knowledge, and receive care 🩺 You can make an appointment with your MyHealth Portal (link in bio), and upon arrival, ask for select coverage under the program, as well as pick up supplies from the pharmacy any time. Access to medication abortion is on the line again. The Supreme Court issued an emergency order today temporarily restoring access to mifepristone via telehealth and mail, blocking a lower court ruling that would have required the drug to be prescribed and picked up in person, effective immediately, nationwide. Mifepristone is one of two pills commonly taken in a medication abortion (MAB). MAB is the most prevalent abortion method in the U.S., done without a surgical procedure, often in the comfort of home. It’s used in about two-thirds of all abortions nationwide. Losing telehealth access would hit hardest for people in rural areas, restrictive states, and under-resourced communities. This order is a one-week pause rather than a win, and expires May 11.
