Took the week to finalize my final fabrics for my collection
4 step process using sustainable dyeing methods
white -> griege
results were better than expected, the various shades of greiges on the different fabrics was actually exactly what I wanted! But damn this was an effort. Stayed up late four nights straight stirring dye pots and squeezing fabric until my lower back had something to say lol. Zero regrets though. They came out beautifully
finalizing my colour pallete using sustainable dying methods .ᐟ
Fabrics tested across 7 different fibre types:
Silk/Linen Voile, Cotton Blend, Cotton Jersey, Cheesecloth, Shirting Cotton, Pongee Silk and Chiffon Silk .ᐟ
experimented using a 4 step process:
- pre tannin bath with myrobalan light (loosens the cellulose fibers to allow the mordant to absorb better)
- Mordanting with Aluminium Sulphate (bonds to the fibre and acts as a bridge between the fabric and the dye, ensuring colour fastness and longevity)
- Dyeing with Quebracho powder (a natural tannin-rich dye extracted from the Quebracho tree, giving a warm brown base tone)
- Iron afterbath with Ferrous Sulphate (saddens and shifts the warm brown towards a muted greige, with varying immersion times producing this gorgeous tonal range from light to dark)
I’m really happy with how these turned out. I was nervous going in, achieving the exact shades I had in mind lowkey felt ambitious. But the results feel true to my vision. There’s something about naturally dyed fabric that just feels right, both in how it looks & feels on the skin and most of all how it aligns with part of what I want this collection to stand for.
some of my work so far for my final semester project..
I’ve decided to experiment with a lot materials as well as finding different ways of incorporating thai elements in subtle ways.
- disassembling traditional thai belts into potential hook and eyes for my final garments
- Weapons through the lens of ดาบ “Daab” historically used for training & combat but with my own twist
- more metallic accessories to be made like arm cuffs (in progress)

This collection will be truly dear to my heart. I’m super excited to see how it’ll unfold & the journey it takes me on. working closely with sustainability and organic fibers, while also paying homage to my upbringing and thai heritage. The ideas have been flowingg, I’m so ready to come up with something really sickk! :)
sculpture skills 101
Week 3
plaster sculpting using clay
my first attempt, I really enjoyed the process: 1. having free rein to design 2. The flow state you get into 3. The excitement of the final results. Overall just a really satisfying experience 💆🏻♀️
