My drawing “Pinky Swear” inspired by my sculpture “Scissor Lock.” 🐊🧵🪡🧶🤙
I combined the pinky promise and the red thread of fate—two symbols of trust and connection across cultures.
“Pinky swear or swallow a thousand needles” comes from the Japanese custom yubikiri (指切り), meaning “finger cut-off.” It’s a childhood vow symbolizing a serious promise—break it, and you face the fate of swallowing a thousand needles.
The “red thread of fate” is an East Asian belief that an invisible red string connects two destined people—often tied from one pinky to another. It may stretch or tangle, but it never breaks, symbolizing an unbreakable bond between soulmates.
My drawing “Swallow the Moon” based off my sculpture “Egg Hunt.” I uploaded the images of the sculpture using a yellow light this time instead of a studio white light for a more dramatic egg-fect. 🧀😜

I had the most fun making the dung beetles. For the drawing the tongue was fun to draw and maybe the flies. 👅🪰
Wish we had less of them tho… always aiming for my tear ducts, my mouth, and nose holes…

The fable I grew up with meets the candy I grew up eating. As a kid, I loved those little White Rabbit candies, and the rabbit on the wrapper always stuck with me. Later, it clicked—just like the hare in the story, overconfident and thinking the race would be as easy as “taking candy from a baby.”
In this piece, the turtle carries the crown instead. A reminder that patience, persistence, and humility often outlast arrogance.
