I made this small dreamcatcher like hanging piece after leading a workshop SUM 숨 here @mashousestudio at Shinnecock Indian Reservation with the community. I attended a beading workshop led by Dennis, I learned how to work with beads and created my first necklaces and bracelets. I loved it and now I want buy so many different types of beads 🤭😆🫶🏻🙏🏻💖my workshop was fun and playful. Children loved it! I gathered fallen branches from around the MAs house 🏠 and combined them with fallen branches, wire( I used wire to tied branches, I broke them while banding them), beads, painted fabric, and hand sewn soft sculptures. I made a yellow bird, a few flowers, and one of the small faces by my friend Hyunji, I didn’t have a plan. I was simply following my instincts and allowing myself to play. The bird feels like a symbol of freedom and migration. The flowers remind me of healing and softness. The faces hold something more emotional perhaps parts of myself, memories, or people I met Hyunji and memories we carried with us. Together, they hang in balance, like fragments of a dream. This piece was not meant to be a finished work or a major project. It was an experimentation made for the joy of making. But sometimes these small and spontaneous pieces reveal something important. They remind me that my strongest work often comes when I stop trying to control the outcome and trust my intuition. Being here has given me space to slow down and reconnect with why I make art in the first place. It starts with curiosity, with freedom, and with the simple desire to transform ordinary materials into something meaningful. I would love to continue exploring this direction, creating more birds, flowers, animals, and human forms using found nature elements like, tree branches, dried plants, nuts, 🌰 fabric, sewing, and paint. It feels playful and personal at the same time. And it reminds me that art does not always need to begin with a big ideas. it begins with a walk outside, see what’s around us, and the willingness to try and make things happen🌻🌞👌☕️🧶🧵🪡🪿🕊️

I am still feeling incredibly grateful for my recent workshop funded by @sf_arts_commission SUM (숨) @sfkoreancenter at the Korean Center in San Francisco. The Korean and local AAPI community in the Bay support was truly overwhelming. It was such a joy to present my new linoleum prints pieces I began developing during my residency at the @kalaartinstitute and I’m so grateful that several of them have already found new homes. SUM (숨) is a project very close to my heart, centered on breath and healing, and it was made possible by the generous support of the San Francisco Arts Commission. If you missed this session, don’t worry 😉 more opportunities are coming soon. My heart is also full after visiting the @asianartmuseum to see the solo exhibition of one of my favorite artists @park_daesung_sosan It was an honor to meet him, as well as the wonderful Korean curators. A huge thank you to @sarahkim_lee for the invitation and for your constant love snd support. It was also a beautiful surprise to reconnect with one of my amazing collectors there @kalimwinata Lastly, a shout-out to my new bag sponsored by @baggu I love it so much that I’ve been carrying it everywhere, though I’m honestly trying to keep it away from the studio! I have a habit of getting paint on every single cloths I have. I am deeply grateful for this community, especially for the chance to reconnect with my Korean roots and feel the support of my people. I have more workshops coming up in May and June, so please stay tuned for those announcements. Thank you all for your continued support 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻😭💌🌹🌹🙂🫶🏻🎁🇰🇷🇺🇸🩷❤️🧡💛💚🩵💙💜🖤🩶🤎💕💘💝💖 #sum #textileworkshop #sfkoreancenter #sfartist #koreanartist

SUM (숨) means breath in Korean. In the rush of our daily lives, we rarely give ourselves permission to simply pause. Next Saturday, I invite you to a space where we can slow down, breathe, and create together. We will use art soft sculptures, painting, and touch as a tool for connection and grounding. This isn’t about making something perfect it’s about the process of being present with ourselves and each other. Come share a moment of rest with me. 🗓 When: Saturday, January 24, 2026 📍 Where: Korean Center, Inc. (San Francisco) @sfkoreancenter RSVP required 🫰🏼 ✨ Details: Workshop funded by the San Francisco Arts Commission @sf_arts_commission #숨 #SFAC #SanFranciscoArtist #Breathe #communityworkshopseries

I had such a great time leading workshop 숨 with @sfkoreancenter at the @asianartmuseum the young artists brought so much energy and curiosity. Seeing them enjoy the process was exactly what I hoped for. I’m very thankful I could be part of this and grateful to everyone who joined and created with me. Thank you @sfkoreancenter for inviting me to host, and thank you to every young artist who showed up and created with me. My heart is full. 💛
