Something is shifting above the city streets. On April 18th, we’re taking over the 2nd floor of @cub.space for a night of raw energy and stripped-back sound. High ceilings, heavy bass, and a dancefloor that doesn’t quit. No ego. No fluff. Just the music. With @imdanemacdonald / @square_tails / @andrewallsgood 10pm to late hosted by @lovefestproductions @kemeleon_ and @allmargossecrets

We said goodbye to Dad last month- our beautiful, kind, sometimes irascible, much-loved man. Our family rock, Hugh was great company, funny, playful and unassuming, with a huge smile and wry charm. The turnout for his funeral spoke volumes about how loved and respected he was. It was an immensely challenging 12 months for him- facing sustained critical illness, returning cancer and an unforeseen terminal diagnosis. In his usual quiet, calm and resolved way, he bore it all bravely and stoically, trying to shield us from its impact while processing it himself. Mum’s care, resilience and nursing prowess these past months are something Nick and I will be forever in awe of. And we’re so grateful for the incredible local district nursing team, St Catherine’s hospice team and wider GP and hospital teams that gave such expert care and support so Dad could stay at home as he wished. With a terminal illness you think you have time to prepare a little for someone to leave your side but the shock is still overwhelming and learning to live without our most loved one now feels too painful for words. Thank you to all our amazing friends, family and colleagues who have sent comforting words, shared personal memories, cooked meals and sent thoughtful gifts that have sustained and cheered us. You are amazing. Dad leaves a huge hole in our lives but we’re so extraordinarily grateful for him, for all he was and for all that lives on because of him. We’re trying to follow his approach- to have fun, prioritise doing the things we really love and keep showing honesty and kindness. Little actions that make a difference. And we still feel him all around us, on the moors on beautiful blue-skied days, with curlew whizzing overhead, and in the woods beside rushing rivers he loved so much, surrounded by nature. We love you Dad xxx

Spring's finally starting to pop out there! My favourite time of year. Full circle of life on display today, last year's Salmon keeping the forest lush and this 12" trout coughed up a 4" frog when I netted it! Not for the squeamish. #explorevancouverisland #rainbowtrout #flyfishing

#tbt Sea Liced Blue Chrome Steelhead from way up the Vedder River 1st week of December a couple of years back. Third cast of the season with a couple of feet of sink tip out. Low light conditions and this one just glows! #mintcondition #steelhead #ontheswing #speyschmey #explorebc #flyfishing
