As the holidays come to a close, we wish all those celebrating , a happy Kwanzaa. Kwanzaa, which in Swahili means “first fruits,” is a seven-day celebration that takes place each year from December 26 through January 1 with each night honors one of the holiday’s seven principles. The Seven Principles are; Unity: Umoja, Self-Determination: Kujichagulia, Collective Work and Responsibility: Ujima, Cooperative Economics: Ujamaa, Purpose: Nia, Creativity: Kuumba, and Faith: Imani.
As we head into the new year may we all find these in our own lives as we continue to find common ground.

Merry Christmas to you all and happy holidays!
I’ve always loved Anne Larsen’s photography, her black and white images remind me of classic F64 images and capture a sense of solitude that’s comforting amongst a pristine tonal range and delicate but precise craftsmanship. This one stands out today as so many of us take in a snowless morning and thinking about how times have changed. So instead of thinking about the unseasonably warm weather we’ll be getting lost in this beautiful snowscape and chilly thoughts!

Two weeks ago we lost a titan of photography. Martin Parr didn’t just take pictures; he held up a saturated, high-contrast mirror to our world and found the extraordinary in the ordinary. Parr redefined the British documentary tradition. He taught us that there is profound truth in a soggy sandwich, a crowded beach, and the eccentricities of social class.
While not the post we intended to share today, we wanted to take a moment to remember a photographer who gave so much to the field. He was also one of the last photographers who I remember seeing with a group of Sprint System staff, years ago, while all in Chicago. Rest in peace to the man who made us look closer at ourselves. 🇬🇧🍦📸

Just a simple Danny Lyon print from the upper bedroom window. Sometimes simplicity makes the complex appear on its own, seemingly without effort all the parts connect in ways you couldn’t see before. Today makes me think of that as we reflect on more than half a century in the business, and most of that under one woman who we honor today. Her leadership is direct and uncomplicated, she cares about the product and about photography, it’s that simple. The rest of it falls into place. Happy birthday Marlaine, none of this could happen or exist without you.

We never shared this little behind the scenes look at selections from the photography collection at the Cincinnati Museum of Art. This was an absolutely amazing opportunity dune during the SECAC Conference this year. A great tour with their curator of photography and like minded creatives. More to come!
