Come see us this Sunday! We will be pouring our 2024 Chardonnay at the Judgment of Paris Grand Tasting at Copia. Wrapping up a weeklong celebration of the 50th anniversary Judgment of Paris, this immersive four-hour tasting combines food, culture and entertainment. Guests will step back into time and taste history. The exclusive JoP Pavilion will feature the legendary winners of the original Judgment of Paris (that’s us!), as well as fifty other premier estates that showcase the beauty of California wines. There will also be a gourmet food station, where you can catch CIA chefs in action, and other bites in the Grove and Culinary Garden. It promises to be a truly memorable afternoon.

Golden hour, but make it historic. 🌞
Spring Mountain Vineyard was established in 1873, and in 1976 their Chardonnay placed 4th in the historic Judgment of Paris.
I recently attended the unveiling of their beautifully designed English garden-inspired sunroom, veranda, and patio spaces. The golden hour lineup moved from ‘79 and ‘88 Cabernets to a 2000 Syrah and 2012 Pinot Noir. Absolutely stunning aged wines. 🍷
We sipped wine on the patio surrounded by flowers and fruit shrubs, then sampled caviar and cheeses in the cozy sunroom that feels designed for long evenings with friends.
Old vintages. Real history.
The kind of space you never want to leave.

St. Helena is 150 years old this year! Formed just nine years before Spring Mountain Vineyards, its history is woven into our own. This weekend, we celebrated that legacy by participating in St. Helena’s Sesquicentennial Parade. Driving the very same carriage that Tiburcio Parrot used when he went to town over a century ago, we hooked up two horses and traveled from our winery down Main Street. It was a special journey through time, and we are incredibly honored to be part of the rich, cultural past of this community.
St. Helena will be hosting a yearlong series of celebrations that capture the charm and history of this unique place. To find out more, visit /150th-st-helena.

At Spring Mountain Vineyard, we’re determined to create a more fire-resilient future for our mountain and our neighbors. Over the past few years, we’ve invested in creative, thoughtful planning to mitigate risks. We started with a large-scale cleanup, totaling more than $1.65 million, to remove dead and hazardous trees, hired more than 4,500 goats and sheep to graze our mountain for the last few years, and are currently working with neighbors and community leaders to create easy access for emergency vehicles across our 825-acre estate. While we may not be able to stop the wildfires, we can be ready for them. For more information on the steps we’ve taken and their impact, visit our blog link here: /chronicles/building-a-fireproof-future, or find link in our bio.

Some highlights from the @pebblebeachfoodandwine festival this past weekend. With 150 chefs and 150 wineries, it was full of exquisite tastings, dinners, and cooking demos. And we ran into one of our favorites - Chef Elliot Bell from @charlies_nv .

Spring in Napa is magical. The sun is finally out and the green hillsides are covered in bright yellow blooms of mustard. It’s a great time for relaxing afternoons spent sipping wine outdoors. Come join us on the mountain!

This week, we started the 2026 planting on the property. We are at the beginning of a 3-month project to get 220,000 baby vines into the soil before summer.
Perched high above St. Helena in the @springmountainvineyard , today’s tasting was a reminder of just how much history is tucked into the hills above Napa Valley.
Spread across more than 800 acres in the Spring Mountain District, the estate is one of the most historic properties in Napa. Vineyards here climb the mountain slopes where cooler temperatures, forested terrain, and volcanic soils produce wines with incredible structure and longevity. Tasting older vintages like the 1988 and 1990 Cabernet Sauvignon was a perfect example of why mountain fruit ages so beautifully—still vibrant decades later with layers of dark fruit, cedar, earth, and classic Napa elegance.
One of the most fascinating parts of the property is Chateau Chevalier, the stone winery built in 1891 by French immigrant Fortune Chevalier. Today it’s often referred to as a ghost winery—one of Napa Valley’s oldest surviving winery structures that now sits quietly preserved in time, a hauntingly beautiful reminder of Napa’s earliest winemaking days.
And then there’s the mansion.
The iconic Victorian estate on the property famously served as the filming location for the legendary 1980s TV drama Falcon Crest, turning this hillside winery into one of the most recognizable estates in Napa Valley. Standing on the terrace with a glass of Cabernet and looking out across the valley, it’s easy to see why Hollywood fell in love with this place.
Between the mountain vineyards, the ghost winery of Chateau Chevalier, and the Falcon Crest mansion, a visit to Spring Mountain Vineyard feels less like a tasting and more like stepping into a living chapter of Napa Valley history. 🍷
