Michael Mason, a longtime Missouri law enforcement officer, died by suicide Dec. 14, 2025. His mother, Emily Hatcher-Irwin, is convinced it didn't have to end that way.
Mason was serving as Humansville's police chief when he died. His mother blames her son’s experiences in law enforcement, and his time at one sheriff’s office in particular, for his death.
