♟️🗃️🧭🪽’HIDE N SEEK’s Regular Deadline has been extended by popular demand, artists pondering the perpetual 🎭SHOW N DON’T TELL required of the visual mediums of art-making, finding new expressions in both 💥BLUNTNESS that transcends literalism and 🃏SLYNESS that doesn’t give the gag away—sometimes wrestles it back from corporate stranglehold and imperialist appropriation that’s made some of culture’s better turns into mere pat geegaw (of which, on the mass-art side anyway, more than a few from our ♟️🗃️🧭🪽🔗👆THEME PROMPT are listed…) 🗓️SO NOW YOU HAVE—a few more weeks to contemplate the kind of show our climate demands, tackling this tension of 📦HIDING and 👓SEEING in a world shifting so constantly these past weeks, these few extra days we hope helping you choose an angle towards either: 1 //. 🎨FORMAL CONCEIT—and the material poesy of underlying, practice-based tactics, of which, say, 💅UNDERPAINTING is just one of them… 2 //. ❌POLITICAL SUPPRESSION & PROPAGANDA—in an era where a culture once lecturing on how not to use the term ‘master bedroom’ appears unable to critique a very obvious series of propogandized war crimes carried out by our world empire and its chief vassals, to say nothing of the glaring hypocrisies related to the allied countries we do support… 3 //. ✨🌕SURREALISM—and its use of dream-logic the savior of art from middle-brow appropriation that over-inundates for market knowns, using Dadaist-adjacency, gnostic underpinnings, indigenous cues & Yungian Bildungsroman— 4 //. 🔑ESOTERICISM & OCCULT—whose meaning is ‘hidden,’ and how these traditions have their own hold on visual language, preserving persecuted ideas from theocratic despotism for roughly 2000-ish years— 5 //. 👥THE SELF—and its hidden inner-mixing into, and public disintertwining, from the artwork of today, following the old Wildeian aphorism about art ‘hiding the artist’— 💅❌🌕✨👥OR OF COURSE—any other vantage into the 2026 ‘HIDE N SEEK’ theme you yourself find and construct from thoroughly perusing our comprehensive 📜🖋️🔗👆THEME PROMPT for a concept the art of today desperately may need a little help from… COME OUT COME OUT WHOEVER U R #springbreakartshow

♟️🗃️🧭🪽’HIDE N SEEK’ deadlines for our 🍁LATE SEPT Armory Arts Week exhibition are steadily approaching— ♟️And to give you an idea of what we’re looking for, we’re weathering these outwardly brutal times by showcasing artworks laden with INNER— 🔍HIDDEN MEANING, 🔥DISSENTING SUBTEXT, 💅FORMAL POETICS, 🌏 CONSPIRACY REVELS & more. 🎥ONE FROM MASS CULTURE—is the recently dusted off final film by Stanley Kubrick, ‘Eyes Wide Shut.’ Dismissed at the time of its release as a Skinamax-silly erotic thriller at the apex tail end of a more exploitative boom that included Paul Verhoevan’s ‘Basic Instinct,’ rumors of Kubrick’s public 🗯️ARGUMENT with Warner execs just before—and the censoring of 25 minutes of final cut 🎞️FOOTAGE just after—his oddly-timed death have gained significant attention alongside 🗃️OTHER HINTS like this one, that the film—despite its many less-literal intrigues—was also possibly an open indictment of the actions of 🗄️JEFFERY EPSTEIN & GHISLAINE MAXWELL, who are suggested to have been deliberately represented in this scene behind Nicole Kidman, prominently placed at a relevant X-Mas party that initiates the narrative of cult exploitation, above (📺☝️)… ♟️REPRESENTING JUST 1—way for you to approach our 2026 theme via 🔍HIDDEN MEANING, and with a winking suggestion of spoofy 👥DOPPELGÄNGERS akin to something by photographer Alison Jackson, visit our 📜🔗👆THEME PROMPT to find out other numina and nerve endings tapping the concept of our next show 🌏POLITICALLY, 💅MATERIALLY, and 💭CONCEPTUALLY at a time where going into hiding and shouting out load seem mutually important in brand new ways… #springbreakartshow

〰️🖋️OUR REGULAR APPLICATION PERIOD HAS BEGUN—for our Fall 2026 Exhibition in Late September and as the world continues to spin with uncertainty, we’re giving you examples of our ♟️🗃️🧭🪽’HIDE N SEEK’ 2026 theme that capture a culture of 🕯️SUBTERFUGE, 🔪PHILISTINISM & 🍉WAR on the one hand, and protection against these things in♟️HIDDEN MEANING, 🗃️ORGANIZATION, ✨DREAM & 🧨MAGIC on the other… ☝️ONE SUCH EXAMPLE—for you to consider in art history, is the 16th Century painting by Holbein The Younger, ‘The Ambassadors.’ At first glance, the anamorphis of the 💀PAINTED SKULL hidden in plain sight at the bottom center of the painting may appear, in concert with the title, to hold a antagonistic 🏛️POLITICAL COMMENTARY against the Tudor-era subjects whose portraits were being commissioned. But the inclusion of numerous additional 🔭SCIENTIFIC and 🪞ALCHEMICAL objects from the era—along with the visibility of the hidden skull coming in to focus when magnified with a 🧪GLASS VIAL—may also allude to forbidden practices within European culture at the time, the skull also thus transforming into a kind of gnostic 🪞MOMENTO MORI (!) 🔭WE R LOOKING for your own discourse on visibility, vulnerability, resistance, and dream (🖋️🗒️🔗👆)—knowing that no *ART ALONE* can save us from what’s happening, but that sharing in our 👁️COLLECTIVE VISION of what we see doesn’t hurt that ability for us 👥JOINING TOGETHER and finding a common way to learn from one another and perceive WHATS HIDDEN IN 🔍PLAIN SIGHT this coming Fall… #springbreakartshow

Sunday, March 1st. 3pm-6pm Santa Monica Installation, between Lifeguard Towers 13 and 14. (North of the Santa Monica pier) String of Light that Connects All Things (S.O.L.T.C.A.T.), is an ongoing series of temporary environmental art installations. It’s a reflection on time, the environment, and an invitation to frame and reframe your view to the beauty that is there. Each installation features different steel sculptures that map out a constellation visible in that month's sky.
