In October 2020, we wrote:
"First displayed in 2013, at the 55th Venice Art Biennale, in a joint Cyprus-Lithuanian pavilion, Gintaras Didžiapetris' neons 'Untitled' have just lit up a building, which is home to the Montos Tattoo project space. The contours of the neon coincide with the lines of the drawing, and their glow is concurrent with the essential energy resources. Inspired by life forms that shine in the depths of the water, these two scrawls rely on the city energy, and their life ultimately depends on it."
Currently, Montos Tattoo is taking a break from its activities, and the three-year neon display contract signed with the Vilnius city municipality does not cover their electricity costs. On the same floor of the building, right behind the wall with a larger neon piece, Kabul studio, a place dedicated to non-commercial electronic music, was located for six years. New plans mark its closing, but the neon can remain.
