Sad news from the splinter crew, and a string of final events. It's meant so much to us to share this space and so many memories with everyone, we hope to see you for our last hurrah before July. Lots and lots of love

Come and join us for live music & eulogies as we celebrate all of the wonderful memories we've shared in this beautiful community space, and make one last glorious memory together to say farewell. To anyone who's ever had Splinter mean something to them, this is your time to commemorate with us, it'd mean the world to see you there.

NAKEY MAKEY! Honestly just an excuse to be queer, get naked and make art and new friends! ✨Splinter Factory 683 Parramatta Rd, Leichhardt✨ 11th of June 6pm A celebration of queer and trans bodies, a space to come together and embrace our beauty, diversity, and unique forms. Nakey Makey is an intimate life drawing class, sharing in nudity and co-creation facilitated by @el_beaux_ and @malaikangelking this lightly guided nude life drawing class is for us, by us. It’s a chance to shed inhibitions, share in the beauty of nudity, and engage in co-creation with kin while being bathed in Malaika Mfalme’s improvised sounds. BYO snacks, something to sit on (rug, mat, sarong), drinks, and drawing materials, some will be provided. Whether you’re an experienced artist or have never drawn before, Nakey Makey welcomes all and encourages everyone to partıcipate in drawing, posing or vibing. Also, we understand it can be intimating to be nude so clothing is optional too! This is an opportunity for you to feel free and fabulous so you get to make the call on what that looks like. This will be our last Nakey Makey at Splinter Factory before the doors close 😔 check out @splinter.factory for all the events they’re putting on before then, including their funeral 🖤this venue is up a flight of stairs and so has limited accessibility. Masks are welcome. This event will take place on stolen Gadigal/Wangal land. Sovereignty was never ceded. We are grateful to be creating art on the same lands where people have been creating since time immemorial. Always was, always will be. As always, First Nations people are welcome free to Kaleidoscope events.

Our last event before the end of Splinter will be a final working bee, to help us clear the space and clean it up for our move. Anyone who'd like to contribute anything back to the space and get one final moment together in the space is welcome to come by and give what they can. Food, coffee & tunes provided. And stay afterwards for a cup of tea and a cuddle.

This Saturday we're busking and selling pancakes to raise funds for Blak Caucas & Legal Observers NSW. There'll be talks & resources covering activism, rights, legal, medical & health advice. Some folk music performances, a flow jam, and space for art & craft. We want to create a space to help the people affected by the recent police violence reconnect with community, feel empowered, regulate their nervous system, and also get access to aid and resources. It's a super communal event so please reach out if you'd like to be involved in any way. PS. We're aware that this is on the same day as the @watchthec0ps Upskilling session at Tasker Park at 2pm, so we're scheduling the talks for after 4pm to give people the opportunity to do both if they want. We'll be going til sunset. Feel free to share, and show up in whatever ways are right for you.

***SOLD OUT*** SYD EORA! March 21 @slowgrindfeverclub returns to Wangal Land for another intimate B.Y.O / D.I.Y dance above an electrical wholesaler in Leichhardt. We play the slowest, slinkiest, spookiest, sleaziest, sweetest, swinginest old records we can find, and people dance real slow in a haze of smoke and dim red light. It's a good time. Finger snapping rhythm 'n' blues, smoochy sweet soul, jazzy popcorn, sultry slow-funk burners and uncategorizable moody melters, all sizzling off of antique discs brought to you by DJ Richie1250 (Stone Love, PBS FM) and special guests @thisisdavebowman and @milky_tea_dj Saturday March 21st, 9pm-3am at @splinter.factory , 683 Parramatta Rd, Leichhardt NSW. This a BYO venue with no bar, so bring what you need for the night. NOTES: - This event is not easily accessible by wheelchair as there are two flights of stairs to climb. Please contact us if you use a wheelchair and want to come and we will do our best to accommodate - The Splinter Factory is a queer space. It is clothing optional and sex positive. You can expect to see people connecting in whatever way they find meaningful. Consent is sexy and also mandatory - There will be a smoke machine going all night and it will get very smokey. The smoke is non-toxic but if you ain't into smoke machines this might not be the party for you... - The dancefloor at Slow Grind Fever is for dancing. If you need to use your phone, please do it in the hallway or on the balcony. (We don't mind you taking a quick photo or video to post up later on, but standing in the middle of the dancefloor looking down at your phone is poor Slow Grind etiquette) - Slow Grind Fever is not specifically a partnered dancing event. Some people dance with a partner, some with a group of friends, some alone with their eyes closed. You can do it how you wanna. - The vibe of the night is very hazy and sultry, but the vibe is also about having good manners. Don't be all up in someone's personal space if they aren't inviting you.
