Fallout, Lucy MacLean’ hero PipBoy. For season two I restored and touched up a hefty amount of PipBoys from season one, and established what the Hero Lucy PipBoy would be moving forward. This was a partially restored unit from season one (you can see physical wear and tear, and fake blood), and as it’s important to consider continuity I took notes and pictures for easy reference. I had a truly unforgettable experience, and was able to share my love and appreciation for the series with the developers and other fans. My hands on experience with the game was mind blowing, and I am feverishly waiting for September 12th, when I’m able to get my hands on the game again. Thunderbolts* Assemble! Maybe, maybe not. I painted a literal arsenals worth for the mercenary Taskmaster, and will start off showcasing her shield. I really loved and dug the redesign for her entire kit, surprising given that orange and navy blue aren’t really colours I’m drawn to. I had to match off the established colours of her body armour, and got to have fun with the aging and dampening of the colours with many passes of a blue-black wash. This show came at a period where it was lots of work, then the strikes of 2023 shut everything down for a while, then it came back. I wish I could remember how many shields for Taskmaster we did. It was definitely a statement piece for her, and we also built a really cool backpack rig to easily holster the shield. Our studio was credited for season two of Fallout, and it is very exciting and flattering. There’s an unbelievable amount of work that’s involved in any film production, and often times not everyone can get credited. There’s a lot of names under Studio Art & Technology, and even still that’s not the entire team. Season two hit at a really difficult time for me personally, but seeing our names in the credits was a huge win and the love from the community and fans has been awesome. When the paint order for an Enclave PipBoy came through, I was stoked beyond belief. I absolutely love the implications of their inclusion, and this PipBoy colourway has been my favourite to paint so far. Has everyone been enjoying Fallout Season Two so far? Hopefully yes, and hopefully you wouldn’t play a risky game with a plasma grenade. Here is the plasma grenade for the show! I got to see this one through and it was a pretty fun one. I had painted it following the original design (the last two slides), and the it was requested for it to be more copper and rusted so I went back in and aged it differently. We had a lot of fun practicing our own Russian roulette with it. Electronics were by @hicks_on_kicks and I can’t recall who did the model but I’ll credit them properly. [Freelance] - custom Beetlejuice roller derby helmet! As if roller derby isn’t cool enough, to then request it be Beetlejuice themed, easily makes the recipient of this helmet the coolest eleven year old ever. Really fun to have creative control on this, the fluorescent green on the striping is my favourite. Her derby name is Babe Ruthless which is great as well. Happy Halloween everyone!! 🎃 I’ve been rather delayed in getting back to posting, but this feels like an appropriate Halloween post. @thresherenthusiast commissioned me to make them a vintage pesticide sprayer for their @knottsscaryfarm character Attacus in Ghost Town Streets. The catch was it couldn’t be made with metal for safety reasons. Using concept art from @erreveles , I came up with a plan - combining 3D printed components (modelled by @future.viking ) with a large plastic tube, and the requisite hardware. The canister was requested to look like it was leaking a poison so I added some physical “poisonous goo” that would be leaking from the top. Of course I wanted to add the detail of the light so Attacus would have more scare options, and in the fog it added a really sinister element (lighting by @hicks_on_kicks ). Overall, I was extremely happy with it and I loved just how far into the excessively distressed and weathered look I was able to take the piece. I also added a small little Easter egg by way of the names Widow & Carmilla in the canister pump handle. All assembly and paint by myself, leather straps by @drewthecostumer . Lilo & Stitch Pleakley tablet and communicator. Found a cache of old pictures and included amongst them were oodles of past projects, that combined with an advert I saw for Lilo & Stitch being available on streaming now, reminded me that I painted these pieces for the movie. I also never saw it. I also don’t want a lot of things that I work on, for some reason. I do remember that a lot of pieces for this movie had substantial paint changes once they got to set, so they were sent back to us, and we had to rapid fire make changes. Just about all of the buttons on the devices had to be changed and redone to accommodate the requests. Quite belated on sharing this, but @drewthecostumer asked me to help out with a Make-A-Wish project to make a set of custom Mandalorian armour for a young Mandalorian warrior and I was excited to finally paint a jet pack! Drew gave me cart Blanche for design direction and I kept it similar to the armour design, and added the Mandalorian warriors name in Aurabesh on the side of jetpack. I also got to paint the blaster and I’ll share that later. But this was a great project for an even better cause, and was also done in about a day or two if I recall. Jetpack by wasted_fett. In my head I’m still living at Borderlands Fan Fest. It’s hard to encapsulate in a caption just how amazing the experience was, and what it means to me. Borderlands to me has always been shared with my friends, and it was an honour to have my work displayed alongside other talented artists form the community, and to then see the communities work displayed alongside the developers hard work. It was surreal in the finest fashion! I also got to meet Randy Pitchford and some of the developers! Experiencing this event showed me just how many more friends I can still make in the Borderlands community, and that makes me extremely happy.
