A SAFTA weekend. What a time it was.
It was truly special reconnecting with everyone after such a long while, and even more beautiful witnessing so many brilliant creatives being celebrated for their work. Seeing storytellers take their rightful place on that stage was a reminder that storytelling is a gift. A powerful one. May we all continue to honour it with authenticity, honesty and truth.

🏆A SAFTA NOMINEE🏆: At 24-years old, I walked onto my first TV set with a heart full of fire and absolutely no idea how far the journey would stretch me. I was just a young boy from Mount Frere with a microphone, a mission and a belief that stories matter. Today, being nominated for a SAFTA for Best TV Presenter feels like a full circle moment I cannot even fully articulate. This is my first ever TV nomination and it carries the weight of every studio light, every script rewrite, every live broadcast and every prayer whispered before going on air.
For years I have had the privilege of telling other people’s stories. On Yilungelo Lakho, fighting for consumer justice. On Rights and Recourse, holding systems accountable. On Sunday LIVE, navigating difficult national conversations. On Media Monitor and other platforms, amplifying voices that often go unheard. And ofcourse, Unfollowed S2, the reason we have this nomination. I was never chasing awards. I was chasing impact. I was advocating for recourse, for fairness, for dignity. To now be recognised in this way feels deeply emotional because it affirms that purpose never goes unseen.
This nomination is not just mine. It belongs to everyone who trusted me with their truth, every producer who believed in my voice, and every viewer who tuned in week after week. I am overwhelmed with gratitude. I will share the voting details soon, and I hope you will walk this journey with me. Silapha. We are here. And we are just getting started. This weekend I went back to Mount Frere. Not as the broadcaster. Not as the Dubai professional. Not as the frequent flyer. I went back as a son. As a grandson. As a barefoot boy who once ran on that soil without knowing how heavy life would become.
The village does not care about your titles or milestones. It strips you down to your essence. It reminds you who you were before the world told you who to be.
I went back to reconnect. To recharge. To remember. To shed old skin.
To sit with memory. With grief. With lineage. With love.
